Secret weapon
I use this to help tame ornery thread. I hand stitch teddy bears, and must use strong upholstery thread to keep the toys together. They must hold up against being cuddled and tossed around. Some colors of upholstery thread, like black, just seem to be more prone to snagging or tangling when I’m working with various fabrics— especially long pile faux furs. The wax helps the thread glide smoothly. I love the little plastic case— it has grooves that make it a snap to use. I thread my needle and whip it right through the wax. Takes two seconds to do each time I reload my needle. I don’t always need to use the wax, but when I do it’s a lifesaver. No more time wasted fussing with mangled thread. The case is refillable too :)
I would never have heard about this little secret weapon if not for the advice of a quilter. I have no experience quilting, but I would recommend using wax to anyone who does soft sculpture.
