Sheds like crazy!
Bought this yarn at JoAnn because it was so soft and fluffy. Now after working with it to make an throw for my couch, I’m incredibly disappointed. It is constantly shedding large amounts all over my clothes and our furniture! Washed it and tumbled it on air dry, to see if I could stop the shedding, and it just keeps going. Worse than any dog I’ve ever owned, and we had Collies!

Used to be the best, what happened?
I have bought over 500 skeins of this yarn for my crochet business over the last four or five years since it was Buttercream Alpaca and then rebranded to K+C. The quality had declined so much over this time, especially when old colors were discontinued and then the rebranding happened. The majority of my most popular colors were discontinued and one of my most popular colors, "rust", isn't even the same color anymore even though it's labeled the same. The skeins are labeled the same yardage as always but, having made the same pattern very consistently with this yarn hundreds and hundreds of times I can say that the yardage is less than it used to be; multiple yards less which can make a big difference. Not only that but it is much less soft. It used to be one of the softest yarns I had worked with but not it's borderline scratchy.
I am finally giving up and looking for an alternative alpaca yarn for my business at this point.

Soft with Beautiful Colors
The colors of these yarns, especially the blue and pink are very nice. I wanted to make a cottage core esque cardigan for my friend and these matched perfectly, they are verys soft though the yarn has alot of fly.

So soft!
I love this yarn, had zero shedding. Did others get a bad batch? Mine smells like clean yarn. I would definitely recommend.

Large Blanket
This yarn feels soft when holding, but after working with it I would never recommend in good conscious. It is scratchy, stinky and shedds horribly. It was costly. I made it for my son who was in the Army and served time in Afghanistan, returning with PTSD. I was looking for something soft and comforting. While beautiful, definately not comforting.

Shedding disaster!
Made a beautiful crocheted coat and it shed horribly. Washed several times, and it's worse than a matted dog. Believe the bad reviews. I didn't listen this time and definitely should have. I have never bought such horrible yarn, ever. Wasted time, trashed project, trashed money. Do not buy!

Sage is not green??!
I bought the "Sage" version of this yarn. Yarn itself is fine, but the color is definitely NOT sage, which I would consider a green color. This is blue, aqua or teal, but not sage. Buttercream needs to rename this color!!!!!!
(Photo shows "sage" between a grass green and a baby blue for comparison).

Sheds so much
Bought this yarn to make a baby blanket since I wanted something warm. I like that it’s thick. However, would not use again for this purpose. It sheds so much, there’s bits of hair in this, it stinks and finally after the third wash the smell of burnt tire disappeared. Returning all the unused yarn.

this yarn does shed a bit when you are working it but i am in love with it and sad its being discontinued. it has a good rating so not sure why its being let go. the clearnace price is what made me try it. i have made 2 descent size blankets as gifts and they are loved.

Decent yarn, a few downsides…
This yarn works up nice and the colors are beautiful. My only issue is that the yarn sheds a lot and is slightly scratchy, but gets softer the more you work with and wear/use your project. If you have sensitive skin I wouldn’t use this yarn.

Great yarn at reasonable price
I bought this very soft and luxurious yarn to make a throw that will be gifted. I am proud to give this beautiful gift - the yarn is beautiful, and easy to work with. I did not experience any shedding that needs to be noted. Of the alpaca I have used in the past, this is among my favorite. I can easily recommend this beautiful, well priced yarn!

Too Thick for Sweater
I bought a bunch of this yarn to crochet a sweater for my boyfriend but it's too thick for crocheting the sweater. I bought it online so had no clue it comes this thick.

Has the formulation changed?
I used this yarn a lot many years ago. Just got back into crocheting and decided to pull balls of this out of my stash to make a blanket since I saw it can still be purchased in the colors I had. I picked up a few more ball of the cream and the pink today since I needed them to finish my blanket and I didn’t care that the color might be slightly off. Well the colors are the same but the new yarn is a lot thinner, feels a lot cheaper, like it’s all acrylic, it’s also very shiny like cheap yarn usually is. They also have a higher twist and do not have the cute fuzzy white fibers all throughout.

Beautiful color but shedding makes it a no-go
The shedding of this yarn was unbearable. I wore a mask while knitting with it because the flyaway fuzz would get in my mouth or nose. Knitted up fast and beautifully though. A bit scratchier than I'd like though. Buyer beware.

WOW! DOES IT SHED!!! Wish I'd Read the Reviews!
WOW! DOES IT SHED!!!! Wish I'd Read the Reviews!
I bought Buttercream Alpaca last month for baby blankets (new twins). Because it shed so much, I returned the unopened balls and continued to use the several balls I'd already opened for a couple of other projects. But, the shedding is so awful I don't want to give away mittens, scarves, hats to anyone. My pants, shirts, jackets, even upholstery bear shed fibers. Awful. Do not recommend this yarn.

Soft, Sheds & Untwists - Color Wrong
Love the softness but hate that the 2-ply easily untwists when right-handed crocheting! I ordered "Pale Blue" which is NOT BLUE, but more.of a platinum/steely blue-gray.

Good Yarn BUT
I absolutely love Buttercream yarns and this yarn is very good - soft, nice colors.. BUT be ready to have all the shedded pieces like hair everywhere LITERALLY! You are going to need tons of lint roller and vacuum your carpet or floors.

Not too good.
I got one in ‘sage’ and it isn’t as pretty as what is displayed in the swatch. It’s very pale, and sort of grayish. It barely registers as a green shade. It’s fairly soft, but it sheds a lot. I started crocheting a hat and looked down at my black tank and noticed I was covered in fuzz. A lot of fuzz. It might be better not to pull this from the center as it’s all kinked up and
it splits. The outer part of the skein looks like it is a little bit tighter twist and no kinks.

Worst yarn I've ever used. DO NOT BUY
I wanted to like this yarn. So much so that I bought 6 skeins with plans of making a sweater out of it. After knitting with the first skein, I realized there was no way I could use this yarn unless I wanted to look like my white dog has slept on top of it every day for the last 5 years without ever washing it. It sheds white hairs HORRIBLY. As I said, I have a white dog who sheds a lot, so I'm no stranger to white hairs on everything, but the shedding of this yarn is more than I can handle. It's that bad. I'm returning the unopened 5 skeins ASAP. Unfortunately I can't return the one skein I used because I ended up having to cut the yarn after it tangled so badly. Never again. Never. Again.

Shredded
I do not recommend this yarn. It shreds and sheds. I had to stop in the middle of my project because it just shredded and pulled apart. I started again and the same thing happened. I returned it.

Soft but sheds way too much
It's soft and the color is nice, but the shedding is horrible. I had read some reviews prior to purchasing and they mentioned shedding, but I had no idea it would be this bad. I'm not sure yet if I'll finish knitting the gift I bought this yarn to make, but I'll certainly never buy it again. I would never wear or use anything made from yarn that sheds so much, and between the shedding and the pretty frequent splitting, it's kind of a pain to work with. It wasn't too expensive, but it still feels like a major waste of money.

sheds like crazy
I am new to knitting and decided to try this yarn for a scarf. It's beautiful, soft, and easy to work with, but I can't get past the shedding. I am giving the scarf as a gift and I feel so bad. I've used a lint roller on it like 10 times and there is still stuff coming off. If you are okay with that, this is a great yarn.

soft and great to knit but sheds A LOT
I bought a skein of Green (and then later one in Charcoal) and knitted a lacy beret with it. I was improvising it so I had to tear back my work multiple times and restart but the yarn didn't unravel and get gross and matted. The yarn stayed nice and buttery soft. No major problems with splitting.
BUT it sheds like crazy. There are these weird white hairs twisted into the yarn that almost feel like the wiry texture of dog hair (it reminds me of my friend's labradoodle hairs as opposed to his other dog's fur) and they get EVERYWHERE — while you're knitting, while you're blocking, while you're wearing it. Even the part of the skein I only used once shed like crazy. They're not scratchy while you're wearing it, but again: they. will. be. everywhere.
One skein was enough to knit myself the beret and almost enough for a matching cowl (which is why I bought the Charcoal skein) so it's definitely not a skimpy yardage, especially for a size 6 yarn.
If you have a wool allergy, it's worth giving this a shot. I am very allergic to sheep's wool (like hands swelling up allergic), but this just made me sneeze when I knit with it for several hours.
* I knit this yarn with sizes US13 and US10.5 bamboo knitting needles.
** Green and Charcoal are not a good color combination. They're both beautiful colors but they're too close to the same color value. I made a mistake trying to put them together.

Sheds a lot
Used this for a knit blanket and discovered as I was making it that it sheds a ton, also not super soft if that’s what your looking for. End product looks nice though and has a good color

Too fuzzy & picky.
Beautiful yarn & color but fibers flew everywhere as I was knitting.
