Returns with a smile are super easy! Creativity shouldn’t be complicated, so you can return items any time (no time limit!) to our stores or by mail.  


Return In-Store

Whether your purchase was made in-store or on joann.com, last month or last year, you can visit any JOANN store for a hassle-free refund with a smile. See details below. 


  • • Returns made with the receipt will be refunded in the original method of payment.
  • • Refunds from online orders will not include the cost of shipping.
  • • If the merchandise was originally purchased with Cash or a PIN-based debit card, the refund will be given in the form of cash. Refunds over $100 may be paid by a check and mailed.
  • • Orders placed using a JOANN gift card will be refunded with a new JOANN e-gift card.
  • • Personal checks can only be refunded in cash up to $25.
  • • Receipts for online purchases, including Buy Online Pick-up In-Store purchases, can be looked up in-store using your JOANN.com order number.  
  • • If you don't have a receipt, choose an exchange or store credit based on the lowest price of the last 90 days. Photo ID required.
  • • Electronics must be returned with a receipt and in an unopened box. Please work directly with the manufacturer if products are damaged upon purchase, or become defective within the warranty period.

Return By Mail

You can return online purchases by mail by contacting our Customer Care team through our Contact Us Form . Select Return Item(s) under My Question and include your order number and the items you wish to return and we will promptly provide you a return label. In-store purchases cannot be returned by mail.


How We Process Your Refund

We refund the cost of the returned merchandise, minus a $7.95 return shipping & handling fee, as soon as we receive and process the return shipment. We will send you an email to confirm that the return has been completed on our end. Refunds are in the form of original payment, so please note that your credit card company may take up to 10 additional business days to post the refund to your account. If the original form of payment was a gift card, a replacement gift card will be e-mailed to you. Customizable fabric and custom upholstered headboards purchased online cannot be returned.


Restocking Fees

For some machines we sell, we do require a restocking fee if returned by a customer. Please see list below for machines with restocking fees.

JOANN+ Returns

In order to give you the best up front prices on our bulk items for JOANN+ orders, we do not accept returns. If there is a problem with your order that you need to resolve, please reach out to a Bulk Order Specialist and we'd be happy to assist you.


Customizable Product Returns

Customizable products are created on demand upon purchase, so we’ll be happy to replace or refund your customized order if it arrives flawed or damaged. In the rare case of that happening, please contact us and include your order number along with a photo of the issue for quick processing. We regret that customized products can’t be returned for any other reason.  For customized fabric, please contact us at customer.service@joann.com, we recommend ordering a sample of your fabric to make sure you love it before ordering larger quantities.  For AR Workshop DIY Customized Kits, please contact us at hello@arworkshop.com.


Refunds for In-Person Classes


Refunds for in-person classes are super easy!  You can reschedule or request a refund for your in-store class with a smile and no hassle.

If you cannot attend a scheduled class, please reschedule by clicking the “Reschedule Booking” link in your confirmation email.  You will be taken to a page with a Reschedule button; click the button and select your new class date and/or time from the dropdown menus.


If you cannot reschedule your class and would like a refund, please contact JOANN customer service by email at customer.service@joann.com.


Please note, all service fees are non-refundable in any circumstance. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please note: We reserve the right to research the original purchase, and to limit or decline refunds. Lost or damaged merchandise return cards or gift cards are not replaceable. Gift cards and store credit / merchandise return cards are not redeemable for cash, unless required by state law.
