Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where’s the center pull? I love the feel. It crochets well. I am frustrated about one thing. I can’t find the center pull easily. I need to work from the center and the outside but on all of my cakes, the center is buried so deep that it just makes a tangled mess maybe a center pull tab would be helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice yarn I'm really loving this yarn! I have it in 3 of the beautiful colors.... Beeswax, Harbor Frost & Orchid frost. I would love to see some of these beautiful colors without the fuzzy stuff, even though the fuzzy stuff gives it a kind of shabby chic look. I already have my eye on a couple more colors!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new obsession is this yarn.. I’ve been crocheting my first blanket with this yarn (~50” by ~70”, ~6 cakes of Amber Ocean, alpine stitch and single crochet) and this yarn is super easy to work with. It hides uneven stitches really well, it doesn’t break super easily so it’s easy to frog hundreds of stitches if need be and I have tight tension; while it hides uneven stitches in the overall project, you can still see and feel your stitches surprisingly well. On top of it being amazing to work with, is so so SO soft, as soon as I started to get a good section of work done I just couldn’t stop messing with it lol. I highly recommend for anyone, this has been a huge confidence builder for me as someone who is still a beginner!! I haven’t blocked it yet since I’m not finished, but I wouldn’t toss it in the wash, maybe spray it down and gently brush the whipsies out with a fine bristled brush once it’s dried if the hairs join together. It says it’s a bulky five so that the fibers don’t get stuck in with too tight of stitches.. if that makes any sense. Happy crafting!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lovely yarn just don't wash and dry your project. I love the texture. I love the weight. I am very disappointed after washing and drying it. It came out matted. No longer fluffy and furry looking. So sad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome yarn, will definitely have a grand supply Totally in love with this yarn and the soft creations I can make

Rated 2 out of 5 by from MUCH thinner than expected for their bulky 5 designation This yarn is much more like a 4, not a 5. And not a very thick 4 at that. I'm using an H hook, which is smaller than recommended. Am struggling to find a stitch with enough bulk to make this yarn become a warm hat. The halo stuff obscures your view so this is NOT a yarn for a novice. I am relying on muscle memory more than sight in placing my hook. The halo stuff also means there is essentially zero stitch definition. I tried using a thermal stitch to get the bulk and warmth but the halo stuff makes it impossible to find that back lower loop. This is also NOT going to be suitable for a scarf that one wraps anywhere near ones nose, mouth or eyes due to the projecting loose fibers. Mostly I'm just shocked it is NOT a thick yarn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really soft and beautiful color fade I love Colorama Halo! I’ve used it in both the older O-go form, and in regular cakes. I enjoyed working with it both ways, but I prefer the cakes for sure. The color selection is beautiful and the yarn is very soft. I’ve made two blankets and a cat bed out of it so far, and I’d definitely recommend it if you like yarn that’s a step up from regular acrylic. If I had to come up with a con, it would be that it can be kind of slippery on a metal hook. I easily remedied that by using my plastic Prym 6mm hook. It’s a very nice crocheting experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft and beautiful I was reading some of the negative reviews, but, honestly I cant say anything bad about this yarn. Yes, it does take AWHILE to arrive (JoAnn issue, not Caron), but when it does, its absolutely beautiful. Soft and luxurious, and the color fading is perfect! I have now purchased practically every color combo to make blankets (Crocodile stitch turns out wonderful with this yarn) and they are lovely. Price is great as well. Generally most blankets cost over $100 to make (yarn alone, not my time), so at this price point, with coupons, its a steal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft, squishy, stretchy, easy to knit I purchased this in store, to knit baby blankets. So glad I did, it is coming out nicely. Knitting baby blanket in a seersucker pattern. 14 rows garter edge. I did have one tie in yarn (shown) in my first cake. The pictures do not do the color justice, the white fuzzy fibers distort the colors in photos but the color and phasing is lovely. The blanket is coming out lovely and the seersucker pattern is showing (again more than picture depicts). It is so soft and squishy, going to be a wonderful blanket. Imagine this would be wonderfully soft and comfy as a cardi. There is nothing itchy at all with this yarn. Not as bulky as I thought so rather than US13, using US10 to get a closer, denser knit. Would buy again but based on reviews would probably buy in store, store does not carry the variety of colors shown on site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this yarn This halo yarn is the best thing ever! I’ve only been knitting for a month so I haven’t tried very many yarns but so far this one is my favorite. It’s so easy to use I have no issues with the yarn at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a 5 Bulky Ordered 5 cakes to make a blanket. This is definitely not a 5 Bulky. Seems to be a very lightweight 4. Would be perfect for an early fall sweater/wrap. Very soft and fuzzy. Gave 5 stars for the yarn itself, but would give Caron a 1 star for incorrect labeling on type of yarn. Will be returning 4 of 5 cakes - and not sure what to do with the 1 opened other maybe a baby blanket?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer service leaves a lot to be desired!!!! 10 working days plus came and went. The package has not shipped yet. Let’s hope it’s coming. With one week before Christmas, I am out of luck. I contacted customer service asking if I can pick up at a store ( hour plus away). No customer service , no yarn. I will think twice before purchasing yarn from Joann’s. Ps I ordered this yarn at the store when visiting Florida. Decided to get more online. But have not received my order. Still waiting. After reading some reviews / I will have to match the lots. Now I have a concerns that what is eventually going to arrive to me will be unmatched lots. Urg

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely ombre Such a beautiful gradual shift from white to a mid to bright color. I'm making a corner to corner and I can't stop working the first cake because I'm so excited to see it worked up. Don't be fooled though. No way is this a bulky 5. It's at a solid 4 with a bit of fuzz.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it I LOVE this yarn. It works up to a beautiful fade that is subtle and slow, which makes it perfect for the large project I chose. It also works into an amazing texture for wearables. I will say, it was very slinky, so it took awhile to get used to working with it. It also is supposed to be a weight 5, but I don’t necessarily think that is completely accurate. Regardless, I love it, would most definitely recommend it for winter wear, throws, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this yarn!! This is by far the best yarn I have ever worked with. It doesn’t split; in the two cakes I used, there was only one knot. It’s so soft, and feels so good against the skin! I even washed and dried my project and it came out just as lovely! I love the color assortment also! I love this yarn, and hope to make many more projects with it! The only thing I would add, is that I would rate it as a #4 yarn, not the #5 they have on their label.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Varies in thickness between lots: Joann doesn’t care I went to purchase in store because the Joann website says they don’t match lots for yarn & it said the store had 17 skeins in the color I wanted. There where only six on the shelf, from three different lots and unfortunately I didn’t have extra time to hassle an employee to find out if they could find more to match available (the Clover Amour hook in the size I needed was also listed as in stock but there where none on the shelf). The gradient was slightly different between lots, but I thought I could make it work because I am doing an afghan in hexagons and wanted to work the gradient across the whole blanket (so rotating between the six skeins to keep the color fade going across a larger area). After working from two different lots I discovered it’s not just the amount of white vs blue that varies between lots: the thickness and texture of the yarn has a huge discrepancy. A patch worked from one came out dramatically smaller than the same hook & stitch pattern from the first skein. It’s thinner and less fuzzy, much less pleasing to the hand (more like a conventional acrylic rather than the first skein I was working from). I haven’t compared with the third lot, but these two will not be able to be worked together in one piece so I’ll either have to make my piece smaller than planned or buy different yarn: I hate both options. It’s more than an hour to one way to get to the store, and the website says they don’t promise yarn to match lots: perfectly fine if you only need one skein but a garbage policy if you’re making anything that requires more yarn. It would be worth paying more to buy yarn from a store that understands matching lot numbers is consequential rather than an unnecessary nicety they need not provide. It’s not hard, manufacturers send them out in lots so they have to be mixed together after the fact for this to be a problem. The yarn itself is good, it would be nice if it was more consistent between lots however it’s completely normal for yarn to vary between dye lots which is WHY lot numbers exist, Joann just chooses to ignore this fact and I won’t plan on buying from the in the future unless they fix their faulty policy and choose to sell by matching lots as a matter of practice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grateful :) I bought this yarn from Joann’s in Scarsdale, New York a few weeks ago. I had seen these yarn cakes for quite some time at my local craft chain stores but unfortunately didn’t have the skill at that point to justify buying some. I took a crochet granny square lesson for an hour about a week ago and the orchid frost became my first solo venture into the world of granny square crochet. It’s such a beautiful yarn, gorgeous colors, soft, good thickness. Couldn’t have found a better beginner yarn. I’m awaiting my first order of the other assorted colors. I’m so excited to be making my first granny square scarf! I’ve already finished a few squares. Can’t wait to receive my order and keep going with this project! So joyful!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute but breaks easily This yarn is really cute but the color part breaks very easily making it delicate to work with. It’s also very fuzzy kind of like the thneads from the Lorax which makes it slightly hard to work with. Very pretty colors though

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Nice Halo Yarn Beautiful ombres and not irritating for a halo yarn. Size should be classified as a 4 instead of 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love I bought this yarn two weeks ago planning on making It into a bolero. It turned out beautifully and when I went to wash and dry, it became even more fluffy than before and if you guys are scared of it going everywhere I assure you it doesn't. It has the fluffiness of mohair but it isn't prickly like mohair. The only thing that I wouldn't recommend it for beginner crocheters because they might have a problem seeing where to place there crochet hook but other than that I would say its a perfect mohair substitute.
