Will never buy again
Splits something horrible! I can hardly use this yarn because it splits so badly. Super cute colors but not at all user friendly.

So soft!
I love this yarn because it's so soft. Perfect for hats and scarves, baby items, but I took off 1 star because the yarn is prone to splitting. I have to be especially careful when I'm crocheting, in case it splits as I grab the strands with the hook. Just be aware of this one problem. Good price, too!

Nice yarn but..
I bought blue gingham and the blue is pretty but the rest of the yarn is bluer than I was expecting because of the photo it shows… I still like it but just a disclaimer to others.

Really Soft
This yarn is really soft and I love the speckles of color throughout it! However, it can be really annoying to work with because it is constantly separating. I enjoyed the final result, but I don't think I will be using it for another project.

Very soft
Although this yarn is very soft, it is difficult to work with because it separates very easily. I'm working half double crochets, which is not a loose nor a tight stitch. I just have to work a lot slower than usual to make sure all 4 strands are on the hook properly.

Beautiful Yarn - But……..
I made an afghan several years using Caron yarn because of its softness. My local store quit carrying it so I haven’t used it in a long time. Bought this Speckle yarn in Wisteria to make an another afghan. It is turning out very pretty, but the yarn is difficult to work with as it separates very easy. If you take your time to make sure your needles/hook don’t go through the yarn it will be ok. After I finish this afghan I won’t buy Caron yarn again.

Love Caron
I have bought Caron in Blue Gingham and Vintage. Love working with them and the Caron products. So soft and easy to deal with. May split here and there but otherwise my clover hook just glides through it more often then not.

Mixing colors with Speckle
I am in a group of women who meet each week to knit and crochet baby hats for three hospitals. We only use Caron Simply Soft usually in plain colors. I tried two Speckle yarns, one called "Galaxy" which is blue and dark blue, and the other called "Wisteria" which is lavender and purple. I loved the way they turned out and so did the others in the group. I've since bought two more colors "Lipstick" which is pink and red, and "Abyss" which is blue and green. If you like mixing colors, I highly recommend Caron Simply Soft Speckle yarns.

Favorite yarn.
I and many others love this yarn. And not all are human. I've made many afghan's, shawls, slippers and other things out of the Caron Simply Soft yarns of all colors. Beautiful colors, soft and pleasant to use, washes up nice every time, plus a few types of yarns such as the speckle and other patterns that are not coming to mind right now. If it's Caron Simply Soft, I have used it. Some of the dogs and cats in our family have taken over the use of afghan's and shawls. Try it and see for yourself. I will never stop using it for sure.

Love love love this yarn in the color vintage
This yarn in the color Vintage looks and feels SO high quality. I didn't experience the splitting issue that other reviews mention so I'm so glad that I didn't let that scare me from trying this yarn out when I read the reviews prior to purchasing this yarn in-store.

Great Yarn, But Darker Than Pictured
I bought this yarn for a blanket. I've used it for many things from making hats to the blanket. It's really soft and not at all scratchy as I find a lot of yarns to be. The photo shows this to be almost pink on my computer but it isn't really pink. It's much darker. That said, it works great in a red, white, and blue project. I love the color and was not shocked it was overly bright as I had read the reviews online to see others complain of the misleading photo.

GREAT YARN, BUT READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
The yarn is incredibly soft and makes for a great mottled look in your finished project. Two things to keep in mind when choosing/using this yarn:
(1) This yarn will tend to split easily. This is likely due to the manufacturing process that makes the yarn soft and beautiful variegated but also makes the yarn very slick and the plies difficult to hold together. Just slow down a little while working the stitches, and this yarn will work up beautifully for you.
(2) Go shopping for this yarn in the store in person, if possible, for the sake of making sure the skeins are the color you want/are imagining. I have also seen complaints in the more recent reviews about people receiving differing dye lots for large orders online. There is no guarantee when ordering more than one or two skeins of yarn that Joanns will be able to select ones from the same lot. Further, because this is acrylic yarn, the color difference between skeins from two different lots is often nonexistent. In my personal experience with this line of yarns, you can usually get away with using skeins with from two different lots in a large project.

Caron is great yarn
I have used simply soft for years, but this was very disappointing. When trying to crochet the yarn kept separating when trying to make stitches. Very frustrating

Splitting is horrible
I’m an experienced crocheter and this yarn is driving me crazy. I’m making a classic ripple afghan in one color. I have to stop every 3rd or 4th stitch to untangle. I’ve used several other Simply Soft yarns before and never had this problem.

Softest Simply Caron Yarn
I have been using Caron Simply Soft yarn for a few years now. I stumbled across the Speckled Yarn because it was on sale. This is the softest yarn I have used. It drapes beautifully and is easy to work with.

Dye Lots Don't Match
Very disappointed. Ordered ten skeins of the purple color for a sweater and they sent two different dye lots. The yarn is nice but I will not order from Joann’s again.

Frustrated
I bought the Simply Soft Speckle yarn in Lipstick. My afghan is very pretty, but I expected to see more color variation as I thought the colors were, red, pink and white. When crocheting with this yarn, the white looks beige and the pink is barely visible. Also the yarn separates very easily so you must crochet slowly and for a very experienced crocheter, this is sometime difficult. Finally there is at least 1 knot or more in each skein, this was very disappointing. I have worked with Caron yarn previously and I expected a better product.

Not happy
I do love the feel of this yarn. The strands separating slows down my crocheting. The Lipstick color is off, it's red and beige. Not red and white. The snapdragon color is beautiful and as advertised but strand separation is still a problem

My favorite yarn by far. The speckle option is not always available in the stores so ordering it on-line was great.

Very unhappy
The yarn is beautiful, but they sent me yarn from various dye lots. The afgan looks ridiculous. But, the yarn itself is beautiful.

Super soft yarn
The yarn is incredibly soft and flows through your hand as you crochet. Tbe blue gingham color that i choose would have worked up to be a beautiful afghan alone. But it is my main color for the one I am using now.
Would definitely buy it again.
