SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 100% cotton fabric
  • 2yds fabric ties 2 yards: 1/2" double-fold bias tape, 3/8" twill tape, 3/8" grosgrain ribbon or make your own using knit or woven fabric
  • Pattern template (download PDF)
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Cricut Machine
  • Cricut Iron-On
  • EasyPress

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
  2. Cut 4 pattern pieces out of fabric (cut 2 together, twice).
  3. Cut fabric ties to about 18" each.
  4. To make your own woven fabric ties, cut strips 1 1/2"x 36" long. Fold strip in half long ways and press. Fold raw edges in toward center fold and press again. Stitch down the side to close tie. Cut to 18" length and finish one side by folding twice about 1/4" and stitching to secure.
  5. To make your own knit fabric ties, cut strips of knit fabric 1 1/2" wide. Stretch strips out until knit fabric rolls. Trim down to 18" lengths.
  6. Layout your design in Design Space and cut out of iron-on material.
  7. Apply iron-ons to outer mask pieces using EasyPress and settings appropriate to your materials.
  8. Match pieces right sides together, and sew the outer curve using 3/8" seam allowance. Repeat with remaining two pieces.
  9. Open pieces and press both seam allowances to the right.
  10. Topstitch down the seam allowance, about 1/4" from the seam.
  11. Lay one half of the mask down with the right side facing up. Pin raw ends of fabric ties in each corner, placing them 1/2" up/down from the top and bottom edges. Finished tie ends should extend toward the middle of the mask. Once ties are pinned in place, bundle the tie ends together in the center of the mask.
  12. Match front and back pieces right sides together, nesting center front seams.
  13. Pin and sew around the exterior of the mask, leaving a small opening at the bottom of the mask between the center front seam and corner.
  14. Clip across corners, taking care not to cut through the stitching.
  15. Turn mask right side out and press.
  16. Topstitch around the mask, closing the hole at the bottom in the process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Elastic I like the pattern but would prefer elastic. Anyone made this with elastic and if so how log did you cut the strips?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent pattern, made some adjustments I cut the pattern as it was drawn using the small adult/teen size for myself. Finished it fits from about 1/4” below the bridge of my glasses to about 1/2” under the edge of my chin. 6 1/4” top to bottom, about 10” side to side. The adjustments I made were using elastic (cut 6” pieces, the larger size I would guess needs 7”), adding a paper clip as a nose wire, and two small pleats on the sides. Without the pleats the mask will gap on the sides. To get the pleat I pinched the sides while wearing the mask. You can also fold the side in half to get the outside point, then made a 1/4” pleat with the point down. I also sewed it in general a little weird and probably more complicated than it needed to be, but I was experimenting with the nose wire. My biggest

Rated 1 out of 5 by from misleading photo and directions The photo shows a mask with elastic ear bands but the directions don't tell how to add elastic bands. Instead the directions tell you to use and make fabric ties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hyperlink for Cricut Iron On Pattern Maybe this has been fixed after all the negative reviews. Directly beneath the 'PRINT DESCRIPTION', just to the right, I found the embedded hyperlink for the pattern *.pdf 'DOWNLOAD PDF'. I have not tried to make this mask but gave it 5 stars to get reviewers attention for the *.pdf pattern download.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pattern size not to scale After I cut things out I now see the pattern size is small and noticed the scale is not in inches causing the adult mask to be tiny. Will need to enlarge the pattern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If the template prints too small My printer didn't print to scale. In case you feel the template didn't come out correctly;;;;The measurements at the bottom of the page represent inches and I had to print at 120% to make the diagram come out to size.
