Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to help me keep my lines clean and see my markings easy as we are going into my favorite season of Halloween and Christmas when I love to craft Nd make costumes and blankets! I use these to make my marks easily seen.

Chalk cartridge set
I love this, it’s so easy to use. I used to use Taylor’s chalk but it only comes in light colors; the different colors in this set allows me to mark light colored fabrics. The only downside is I can’t find replacement chalk.

Love the Dritz Chalk Cartridge Set
I just purchased my 2nd of these sets, as I gave one to my daughter. I love the ease of loading the cartridge and the sharpener and the simplicity of being able to change colors. I have not had any problems with any colors of the chalk not washing out. I am just careful to use a lighter mark on lighter fabrics. This is so much better than getting the regular tailor's chalk on your hands or sharpening the wooden pencils that It is worth the cost. I just wish it came with a storage box for pen, chalk and shapener, so they could be stored all together. Hope Dritz hears me. :)

Can draw a fine line with this tailor’s chalk
The tailor’s chalk and the chalk holder work very well. The holder was a bit confusing to use — it’s quite stiff, and it doesn’t hold a full stick of chalk, which is fine. Nonetheless, I can draw a fine line with this chalk. I learned a tip to use baby wipes to remove the chalk, and this worked for me.

Useful; but chalk breaks easily
I bought this for my sewing. It's wonderful for transferring markings, and marking buttonholes. I don't really use the white chalk, so that was a bit of a waste. The chalk _does_ tend to snap easily, but you can still stick the little bits in the holder and still get use out of them.

Excellent chalk!!
I've used so many different kinds of marking chalks, markers, etc. This set is my go to for the following reasons:
-Ease of marking due to the sharpener, I always get clear fine marks on many different fabrics-even knits(tip for knits:sharpen often so you don't have to use much pressure therefore not causing damage)
-handy eraser (it works as good as a pencil eraser does)
-color choices- haven't found a fabric I can't mark with it!
I noticed other reviews stating it doesn't come off, but I haven't had that problem. Though I mostly mark the wrong side anyways ans I don't make any marks large enough on the right side to cause problems. When I'm marking the right side, I use less pressure so it erases easily. I believe that when using this chalk as stated above, you will find this set to be the most versatile and easy to use out there!

I love this for sewing projects.
While I agree that it's tough to get the chalk off fabric once drawn on, this is still a great product as tailor's chalk and for tracing patterns and such. I love the variety of colors so I can use it for any color fabric. It sharpens easily and dispenses nicely (although NOT like a mechanical pencil - it's not meant to work like that). I used mine so much I got a second one.

Terrible
I can't get this to release the chalk so I can use it like a mechanical pencil would work. Also, it doesn't get close enough to the ruler for accurate line placement for measurements.

Do Not use for quilting
I bought this product while hand quilting a quilt for my mother as a Christmas present and thought it was wonderful I was able to get sharp points to make fine lines and the multitude of colors was just what I needed to work on her dark and light colored multi-patterned material quilt. When I was finished (2 weeks before Christmas) I washed it and noticed that the purple red and yellow chalks did NOT come out so before drying it I used shout on it and rewashed it, they lightened slightly but still did not come out, then I used shout and Oxyclean on it and rewashed it again, they faded a little more but still were very visible. I never put the quilt in the dryer I hung it to dry when I couldn't get the chalks out and gave it to my mother early with a bottle of shout and oxy clean, she has washed it 2 more times and tells me that now she can barely see the chalk..but to me this was a 6 month labor of love that was ruined because I couldn't get the chalk marks out. I would absolutely NOT recommend this product for quilting.

Chalking
I purchased this to mark on fabric. I use it as tailor's chalk, for pattern making, and different tracing patterns. I love that I can change colors so I can see my lines on any given fabric color and my hands aren't full of chalk after I'm through. After two years of using this I've never seen any traces of the chalk on any of the finished fabric pieces after washing. I do know it won't rub off as easily as other chalks while I'm using it and for me it's great because I don't lose time by having to remark my lines.
Only downside is the little chalk case. It's flimsy and it opens too easily thus I ended up with some broken pieces of chalk. I'm still able to use the broken pieces on the cartridge.

Bought this at Sherman Tx store because we could not find any fabric we liked and had a coupon to use. It will not get close to the ruler like other markers so it's designed totally wrong. At the high price it's not worth it. Plus other reviews say it will not wash out. Using your small leftover pieces of soap will work just as well as this piece of junk.

Don't use for quilting!
I used this to mark quilting lines on several small bags that I intended to sell. The "chalk" never came out and I lost a great deal of time remaking the bags. I did not iron it and it never went through the dryer. The consistency makes me think there's wax in it. It's like using a crayon to mark a quilt!

Not for Quilting
I purchased and used the chalk cartridge set to mark a quilt for quilting. It was the first time I've ever used this product. For this particular project, I used the yellow chalk.
Admittedly, I should have tested it before using it on the project. Upon completion of the project, I washed the quilt. Due to extenuating circumstances (no need to explain), I did not think to check the quilt before putting it in the dryer. Now the chalk is set and I cannot remove it.
So my first question is....what's the best way to remove it once it's "set in?"
After that experience, I decided to test it further. Using a piece of the same fabric, I marked it - again with yellow chalk - and quilted it. This time I washed it but did not put it in the dryer. The chalk was, once again, set in the fabric.
I searched online for suggestions. Then I tried Goo Gone and rubbing alcohol in separate areas and neither one removed the chalk.
So I decided to perform one final test. I used each color of chalk and marked a single line on another piece of the same fabric, but did not quilt it. Using others' suggestions, I attempted to brush off the chalk using my hand as well as a terry cloth towel. The chalk lifted slightly; however, still remained in the fabric.
Lastly, I used rubbing alcohol on the final test fabric. The chalk remains.
Although the product is handy and very easy to use, I am not at all satisfied with the performance on fabric, especially a beautiful quilt to be given as a wedding gift.
This product would be best used on a chalkboard or chalk wall, not on fabric. The experience has been a learning experience and one that I will not repeat for quilting.

Double purpose
My daughter. "Borrowed " my first pen for her chalkboard wall in her kids bathroom. It's a big hit. And I use it exclusively for my sewing. The sharpener gets you that fine point that I need. Great product !!!
