Easter Costume 8ft Skeleton

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • White Felt: 1/2 yd
  • Pink Felt: 1/4 yd
  • Craft Wire: 3 yds
  • Wire Cutter
  • 3/4" Elastic: 12"
  • Poly-fil®: small amount
  • Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue Sticks
  • Basic Sewing Supplies (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut out 4 bunny ear pieces from the white felt.
  2. Cut 2 headband pieces from the white felt.
  3. Cut 2 inner ear pieces from the pink felt.
  4. Sew bunny ear pieces together, leaving a 3" opening.
  5. Fold craft wire into bunny ear shape & insert into bunny ear opening.
  6. Make sure the wire extends an inch or 2 past the end of the bunny ear.
  7. Sew (or hot glue) the opening closed.
  8. Hot glue the pink pieces to the centers of the bunny ears.
  9. Set aside.
  10. Lay a white felt headband piece flat & fold in half, matching short ends together.
  11. Make a small cut about 2 inches in from the fold - this will be for inserting the bunny ears later.
  12. Cut through both layers of felt for equally spaced openings.
  13. Unfold.
  14. Fold a 36" length of craft wire in half.
  15. Hot glue both lines of wire onto white felt headband piece, spaced about an inch apart.
  16. Insert bunny ear ends into the openings & bend the ends into an L-shape under the headband wire.
  17. Hot glue in place.
  18. Trim excess wire if needed.
  19. Place a small amount of Poly-fil stuffing at the top of the headband between the ears & add a little on the sides.
  20. Hot glue the second white felt headband piece to the bottom.
  21. Try the headband on the skeleton & cut the elastic to size to fit around the back of the skull.
  22. Hot glue elastic to the ends of the headband & allow to dry.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Replace sewing steps with hot glue, if needed or preferred.
