SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 100% cotton fabric
- Coordinating 100% cotton fabric
- Basic sewing supplies
- Pattern template (download PDF)
DIRECTIONS:
- To create color block sew together two pieces of coordinating fabric 4"x 12" long using 1/4" seam allowance.
- Download pattern by clicking on the "Get Patterns" tab. Fold pattern in half from outer corner to center of curved side. Lay fold of pattern piece on the seam of the fabric piece you created. Cut one pattern piece.
- Lay cut pattern piece on fabric matching seam line with right sides together to cut second piece making sure you have turned the piece to make color block.
- Cut 2 pattern pieces of coordinating fabric for lining.
- Cut pieces from coordinating fabric to create bias tape. You’ll need one piece that is about 41" long and 1" wide.
- Use bias tape maker to create 1/4" bias tape or do it yourself by ironing the strap in half, then folding the two sides again to meet the center fold. Sew closed to finish bias tape.
- Match outer mask pieces right sides together and sew the outer curve making sure you match seams for color block. Repeat with lining pieces.
- Open both mask halves and press both seam allowances to the right.
- Topstitch down the center seam allowance, about 1/4" from the seam.
- Pin front and back pieces right sides together and sew around mask leaving a small opening at the bottom of the mask between the center front seam and corner to turn.
- Clip across corners, and clip curves taking care not to cut through the stitching.
- Turn mask right side out and press.
- Topstitch around the mask 1/4" from the edge, closing the hole at the bottom in the process.
- Make channel on each side of mask by turning under 1/2" and sewing close to edge. Thread bias tape through channels making loop at the top. Finish ends of bias tape by turning under and sewing or tie in a knot.

Giving this mask a try!
Printed with no issues. Have fabric and am anxious to see how it turns out. Not sure I want to use bias tape. May see if I can adjust to use elastic.

Follow the print instructions indicated by CA.
I followed the print instructions the reviewer for CA indicated. Printed in landscape and had no issues at all with either the directions or the pattern. Haven't made it yet, but will do so.

I just purchased my material and I'm going to make this mask. Printing the instruction was very easy. Copied them and went to words007 and pasted and they printed out every easy. No problem!!!!!!!

Worked well.
I tend to make 1 or 2 by following the pattern and then make my alterations.

Able to print instructions and pattern
Saw previous reviews about printing problems. I found that if you try to enlarge the font of the instructions, they disappear from the print screen. Also, important to remember to set your printer to print the pattern in Landscape format. If you print in Portrait, the dimensions are not to scale (too small). Glad to have the ruler measurement on the side of the pattern to ensure correct size. I have not tried to sew this mask yet so cannot answer questions about the quality or fabric.

Everyone is not experienced with patterns and sewi
Aha, I thought, I could make my husband and I some matching masks from pieces of fabric leftover from other endeavors. Well, I was wrong. I didn't even get to the sewing before I was flumoxed! Perhaps some diagrams for making patterns would have helped me...perhaps not, but I did not understand what it was I should be doing. So, I did not use this pattern and did not make these masks.
