STITCH GUIDE
Bind off: Starting at the corner where the yarn is not attached, pass the 2nd lp into the 1st lp, then pass the 3rd lp into the 2nd lp, then the 4th lp into the 3rd, etc. all the way across.

NOTES
The cowl is worked in a spiral in the round.
For best results, make sure before you insert each loop into the next, there is not a “twist" in the lp. A twist will result in a less even, more open look.

DIRECTIONS:

With the end of the yarn, count off 49 lps.
Setup: Taking the next lp (the 50th lp) in hand, insert the 50th lp from back to front into the 1st lp, creating a circle. (1 st knit) Place a removable pin or marker to mark the first st of the round.
Rep this process, working around in a spiral. You will be inserting the 51st lp into the 2nd lp, the 52nd lp into the 3rd lp, the 53rd lp into the 4th lp, etc. across all the first 49 lps.
(49 sts made.) Be sure there isn't a twist in your work. You will need to restart Step 1 if there is.
One round is complete. You will need to move the marker up every round you complete to keep track of the beginning of the round.
Step 1: Working around as before, insert 1 lp from back to front into each st around until you get to the marked stitch.
Step 2: Rep Step 1.
Step 3: Working around as before, insert 1 lp from front to back (creating a ridge at the front of your piece) into each st around until you get to the marked stitch.
Step 4: Rep Step 1.
Rep Steps 1/4 twice more (three times total). Then work Steps 1/2 once more. Work Bind off.
Cut the last lp and pull through. Then, take that strand and insert it into the first lp you made around the opening, joining the beginning and end together.

FINISHING
Weave in all ends. Securely fasten off last lp with sewing thread and needle.
