SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Square By Design® Square
- 2yds 54" medium weight fabric
- 16" zipper
- 5lbs Polyfil® stuffing
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing Machine
- Optional: Rotary cutter, mat & transparent ruler
DIRECTIONS:
- Finished size: 21"x 17"
- Note: Seam allowances are 1/2". If ironing is needed, use dry iron.
- Cut Square By Design® Square into a 22" square with motif centered.
- Cut (4) 22"x 18" pieces of fabric
- Cut (2) 11"x 12" pieces of fabric
- Place the 11"x 12" fabric pieces right sides together. Pin two 12" edges and stitch with a 1" seam, leaving an opening in the center of the seam wide enough to insert zipper.
- Insert zipper.
- With 1/2" seam allowances and right sides together, join the (4) 22"x 18" pieces along the 18" edges forming an open box. Press seams open.
- With right sides together, attach zippered piece to one open end of the box, sewing along all four edges to form bottom side of pouf.
- Open zipper. To form top of pouf, pin the SBD motif square to all four sides of the remaining open end. Stitch. Press seams open and turn right side out.
- With the pouf top side up, form edging on sides by folding 2 adjacent fabric pieces along a vertical seam, so that wrong sides are aligned. Press. Top stitch 3/4" from the aligned edge, stopping 3/4" before the top and bottom ends of the edge. Repeat on the remaining 3 vertical seams.
- Top stitch bottom and top pouf edges 3/4" from all edges in the same manner.
- Stuff pouf and close zipper.
