SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Big Twist Soft Yarn, various colors
  • Cardboard 5"x 7"
  • Scissors
  • Template

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Trim cardboard to be 5"x 7". Attach template to cardboard using tape or glue.
  2. To form the ears, wrap yarn around the 7" length of the cardboard about 8 times. Leave a length of about 10" at the start and end of the wrapping. Use the start and end pieces of yarn to tie a knot at the top and bottom of the yarn bundled on the cardboard. Then connect the ends in the center and tie together with a double knot. Slide bundle of yarn off the cardboard. Wrap ends around the center of the entire bundle and tie again. Set to the side.
  3. To form main body, wrap yarn around the 7" length of the cardboard about 75 times. Tie ends of the yarn together and tuck into the middle of the bundle.
  4. To form feet, cut two pieces of yarn 6" long. Divide the bottom edge of the bundle into two equal sections. Loop a 6" piece of yarn through each section and tie with a double knot. Slip knot to the back side of the cardboard. Do not trim ends.
  5. For the whiskers, cut 3 pieces of yarn 5" long. Pass the three strands of yarn between the bundle of yarn and the cardboard at line “A". Double knot and trim ends to about 1".
  6. Take ears and pass between yarn and cardboard at line “B". Use tied yarn at center to attach ears with a knot. Pull both ears up and use extra yarn to wrap around both ears 2-3 times to keep them upright. Secure with a knot. Tuck and yarn ends into the middle of the main bundle.
  7. Use a scrap of yarn to tie a temporary knot at the center back of the bundle of yarn to mark the tail location.
  8. Slide yarn off of cardboard. Form head by bundling yarn with whiskers at front and ears upward. Wrap 12" piece of yarn around neck twice and knot to secure. Tuck ends into middle of the bundle.
  9. Finish feet by taking yarn ends and wrapping around both layers of yarn about 1/2" up from the first knot. If long enough, tuck ends back toward the tail, or trim close.
  10. Form tail by wrapping a piece of yarn around all of the yarn about 1" up from the temporary knot. Once yarn is tied securely, remove temporary knot and cut through all loops of yarn. Trim down yarn so it is even and forming a half pom pom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to make I hit the download to the right, it worked. The download is a 5 x 7 rectangle with Front and A and B printed on it. It is for the directions given. If you want to make these bunny tassels it works ok.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Template? I did the download for the "free" instructions but don't find the template referenced in them.
