The machine includes an adjustment dial to set the length of stitches so that you can work from fine to heavier fabrics. The HD-1000BE comes with a special accessory pack including: Ultraglide Foot, Even Feed Foot, 5-Pack of Leather Needles, 2 Anna Maria Horner sewing patterns and a sheet of vinyl decals of Anna Maria Horner designs.

My old machine couldn't handle sewing through thick denim (let alone layers of it) so I took a chance and purchased this machine....and I am so happy with it! This Janome HD - 1000 is awesome! Its a very basic machine in the sense that it is not digitalized and has a small selection of stitches. But this modest machine (with a more affordable price) compensates its no frills with its powerful motor and the smoothness of its sewing.... I sew every day (for many hours) and hope this machine will last for many years to come.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken sewing machine They say they can’t take returns. What?? A supposed new machine that I have taken hours trying to get this sewing machine to work has been miserable. I can’t not get the bobbin to work properly. Broke needles and still can’t sew a simple seam! So now I will have to expend even more money and time to take to a repair person. I’m not happy!! This is not rite and should have been explained when the purchase was made.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy duty Janome I bought this Machine to sew duck canvas curtains for store dressing room. I worried about learning a new machine but set up turned out to be easy. I sewed over 20 yards of fabric without any tangles or bobbin issues. Needle did break once in several layers of duck fabric but I was able to “ hand walk “ new needle through it. Also at times machine needle would not penetrate through multiple layers (slipping as if bobbin winder was engaged but it was not). Thus 4 stars instead of 5. Not sure it is truly a “heavy duty “machine but otherwise I am happy with it.

I was apprehensive buying it because there were some very negative reviews out there, but I've sewed a number of different things (doll clothes with cotton and stretch knit fabrics, used the walking foot to turn an old quit into a slipcover) My previous machine had a front-loading bobbin, and I will say that this one is a bit "fussier" than that. But once I understood what I needed to do, I have not had a problem.

After researching sewing machines I found this Special Edition HD Janome and I love it. It is quiet, fast, easy to operate and has the features I use in my sewing projects. I like that it is made of metal parts and came with a hard plastic cover.
