It has a return at a fight angle to the sewing machine that is meant for a serger. I don't own a serger, but use my machine for machine piecing quilts. This product fits the serger surface perfectly. I keep the iron at my side and only use the large ironing board for yard goods. This mat is generous enough for piecing and organizing small sets. Those who had trouble with warping... take it back. Probably a defective lot. I've had two of these (this one and a 12x12) for 5 and 10 years. No warping. I am sure the company wants to know this so they can look into why and make you into a satisfied customer.
Date published: 2006-10-27

Rated 4 out of 5 by paule from I like it, but.... I have had this mat for way over 10 years. I love the concept. I keep a sewing machine, iron and this board at work so I can sew on my lunch hour. However, the reason I haven't given it a higher rating is because I have found that the cutting side dulls my rotary blade way too fast. It has also warped, but that could be due to probably close to 15 years of use and the pressing side is disgusting looking, again probably due to all the use it gets. I can't complain too much, I definitely got my money's worth. I am planning to buy another one. My only comment to the company is to do something about the mat. It is too hard & unforgiving. for the record, I have been quilting since 1975 before rotary cutters & mats & sewing for 52 yrs.
Date published: 2011-04-21

Rated 3 out of 5 by Carol from Remake this with removable/washable pressing side I have bought two of these cutting/pressing boards. The first one, I threw out because the cloth side was a dirty mess from using Seam A Seam fusible sheets and it was also warped. I figured out it was from using my iron on steam setting. I have a second board, and though it's dirty and warped, I will keep it for pressing fusible quilting fabric. I'll buy another of these and keep it for pressing unfused fabric. It's a shame with all the advancements in products nowdays, June Taylor Company coudn't make this with a velco-removable top which could be washed, and a non-warping plastic cutting side. Buy it only for the pressing side to put next to your sewing machine. The cutting side is not worth using, use a regular cutting mat for your projects.
Date published: 2013-11-10

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Very Handy I love the convenience of a small pressing surface to do piecing work. I use a piece of muslin as a pressing cloth to protect the surface of the mat because it does get dirty in short order, especially if using fusible products. The cutting side of the board is not terrific but will do in a pinch. It is too hard and makes cutting accurately a bit tricky. I suspect that it contributes to dulling rotary blades so I don't use it much except to check how square my piecing is coming along. For that reason I think it is convenient rather than going to my cutting table to check on my large cutting mat. I use another small mat.
