Super-Flimsy!I bought four of these for my daughter for all her Friends sets (She has 59!). But she no sooner took them out of the package and they began to warp and curl up. They will not lay flat unless she builds a rather heavy element on them. I've designed a couple architectural models, but I'm afraid to buy this baseplate for fear it will do the same, even though it is the size I need. Hey Lego, for the price, how about making the plates heavier? Legos aren't just for kids anymore, and I'd like to get my money's worth. Thanks!

Great but....I love the size of this baseplate. It's worked great for several projects. The only issue I have with it is the color. Unfortunately most of my projects would turn out better if the baseplate also came in green.

Simple Baseplate, does the job wellRecently purchased one of this base plate as a foundation to one of my city builds. Grey is good for concrete areas with buildings next to a road plate. Perfect on a flat surface like a table, despite what everyone says about it being thin and what not.

GARGANTUINthis set [baseplate] is very useful, in fact VERY BENDY,
you would have to put a very large surface under it,
here are pros. and mons:
PROS.
#1. it is very good for building sets on with family
#2. good for putting LEGO boxes on
MONS.
#1. baseplate is so thin and wide it could snap
#2. bottom looks very odd [LOL]

ColorwiseI am building a Lego table for my grandkids and am disappointed this plate only comes in one color. A variety of colors would be desirable. Especially green.

48x48 Gray Lego Baseplate ReviewOverall, this Lego baseplate is pretty good. There is just one drawback. The Lego baseplate is not designed to move around. If you have a creation on it, it may bend if you move it. This is because this Lego baseplate and all Lego baseplates are thinner than a single plate.
However, this Lego baseplate is at the largest size of all Lego baseplates. This means you can build a larger creation in a single Lego baseplate than a 32x32 Lego baseplate.
Buying this Lego baseplate is mostly likely recommended.

GRAY BASEPLATEThe size of this baseplate is great, but value of money, kind of poor. LEGO should make baseplate this size in EVERY COLOUR!

Very Very UsefulThe base plate is very large, and is great for building structures and setting up scenes; which is exactly why I bought it. The bottom is flat, so it is thin and flimsy. I didn't plan on stacking it on anything so I'm OK with that. I recommend this to anyone who needs a lot of stud coverage.

Not even a real plateIt's thin compared to normal plate pieces, so putting a plate piece next to it and connecting with another brick or piece usually doesn't work very well.
Kind of monotone. I wish these at least were offered in other colors at this size, or a mix of colors on one base.
To me, it basically provides only one function: an anchor to put a building onto.

We use a lot of base plates when we create our own ideas. When building a village or Jurassic Park, the base plates are used to hold everything together. Would like to see the large base plates available in green as well to add to the realism in our creations.

GRAY BASEPLATEThe baseplate is flimsier than I had expected. I feel that it should be at as thick as one of the larger flat pieces to better hold what is built in it.
It would also be nice being thicker to be able to have the holes on the back to be usable to make a thicker base for appearances. Also to be able to link the baseplates together to make an even larger base for the kits with larger foot prints. for example, my Robie House model is too long for the largest baseplate - I will need two of them to hold the model. With thicker baseplates and using part #4211390 to make a sturdy sandwich base and the parts(similar to #4211387) that have holes and with the parts #4514553(as an example) to join them together like the city blocks would make the baseplate more usable.
I think these baseplates are a good start toward an even better product that will help enhance the fun of Lego building.

Must Have! Need More ColorsThese baseplates are a must for display. Keeps buildings and figs locked in place. Lego, if you're listening, we need more colors. White would be at the top of my list ( Frozen, all the winter sets, Star Wars Hoth ). Blue and even black would be great as well.

Great for display!I collect minifigures and putting them on a shelf wasn't an option. I took a photo frame from Ikea and sticked the base plate with double-sided tape. So I can easily use the plate later for another project.

Gray BasenoodleThis baseplate is a thin piece of junk. If you mount your creation on it don't plan to move it, it will bend and flex like a wet noodle. It mike'd at barely 0.050 of an inch, you would think for $15 they could of added a little plastic to them. By comparison, a regular LEGO baseplate that comes in the sets are at least 0.120 to 0.125 of an inch.

This is an essential.I have used the 5 baseplates that I own about 50 to 100 times, literally. They are so useful to build mosaics (which I build often). I have built mosaics for Sherlock Holmes, Culver's restaurant, Pepsi, Costco, RDO Truck Centers, and many others. They are also useful for building sculptures on.
I have built a giant 1 ft. tall x 2 ft. wide Wells Fargo Stagecoach, a 1 and a half Winnie the Pooh and a large chef. The baseplates were very useful for these purposes. Most of my sculptures are made up of 2,000 to 6,000 bricks, so they are very heavy. These keep my things together. Thank you for making these, LEGO!

O.K.It's really flimsy, and things don't stay on well. But it you stick smaller base plates on it things stay on.

Please make in a 10x10I wish these would be available in a 10x10 format. I'm trying to buy for my sons and know they would be bothered when they don't "fit" together.

Good if you need itI collect the Lego mini-figures. Bought a baseplate (grey) to have them in one group. Putting them along the edge was acceptable for most of them, but there were many that did not fit as easily as others, hard to put some of them on the plate because their accessories would become undone from the figure easily. I did display them in ice cube trays until I got to many, and another way was putting them on rulers and then sticking the ruler to the closet and door frame which was cute until I got to many and ran out of frame space. The base is a good place but not perfect.

Surprised to see this BIG guy!Walked into the Lego store with the plan of purchasing 2 base plates. (which would eventually be part of my son's DIY LEGO table) But when I seen this BIG guy, I knew he was coming home with us. This is gonna be a great add-on for my son's lego Juniors sets! Hoping they come out with other colors so I can go back for some more.
