How To Get It
Even the best yarns wear down with frequent use and machine washing – until now. Lion Brand created Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling for all your favorite projects that see a lot of wear and tear. Even before it is spun into a premium 4-ply acrylic, the fiber is treated to resist pilling. And, when pills do form (due to frequent use and washing), no need to pick them off – just throw the item in the washer and the pills disappear. But that’s not the only great thing about Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling. It is super soft, has great stitch definition, and comes in an extensive palette. This is the perfect yarn for those afghans the family loves to snuggle under on movie night, the scarf and hat you wear every day, and baby’s favorite blankie that gets dragged through the playground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chicken hat Customer wanted a barred rock chicken and this was the perfect one. It's a bit thin compared to another brand but usable

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This yarn almost sent me to the nut house So, I am crocheting along and put my work up for a couple of days; returning to the project, I am at the end of the first skein. I add a new skein and begin crocheting away. I get about 15 rows with the new skein, and I look at my work and what do I see? The work with the new skein looks visibly smaller in gauge. I am thinking that I may have switched out a different crochet hook when I returned to my work, so, I ripped out the first skein and started all over again. Again, the second skein produced a smaller gauge than the first skein. Now I am extremely upset. I have never, that I know of, had that happen with any yarn I have used. Now, I have to say, when I began the second skein, the yarn DID somehow feel different in my hand than the first, but I just ignored it since this is the first time using this brand and variety of yarn and it supposedly was from the same dye lot. So, I then compared the two skeins side-by-side, felt them and looked at them and "yes" that second skein IS less thick than the first and I compared those two skeins to all the yarn I bought in that dye lot, and what do you know? The thickness on that one skein is visibly less thick than the rest of the yarn and they ARE all from the same dye lot, supposedly. I will not be buying that variety of Lion Brand yarn again. It drove me crazy not knowing what was going on; I mean who would expect an entire skein in the same dye lot to produce a different gauge than the others using the same hook?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good basic yarn This is a good basic yarn that gets softer after it's washed and dried on warm. I don't like it as well as Simply Soft, but the baby hats I made with it look good and after washing them they are soft enough, too. Nice colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good yarn for utility use I bought this yarn last week. Lion Brand's Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn has a surprisingly soft feel for acrylic with only a minimal scratchiness. The colors are vibrant, and there's a slight halo to the finished fabric. It was easy to work with, and my stitches were fairly well-defined. After washing, my crochet hook roll-up tool holder kept its shape beautifully, and I was pleased to see very little pilling. For durable, easy-care projects with vibrant colors, I'd recommend this yarn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissappointed Purchased this yarn online and needed more so I went to the store to get more. The exact same yarn had 4 more yards on the skein. Now why would that be??? Watch your online purchases. They are ripping you off!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If half stars were a choice, I'd go with 3.5 This yarn is solidly ok. It is not the strongest (it will occasionally break at knots when I pull it tight), different colors have different thicknesses, and it unravels while crocheting. That said, I am also pleased with the current resulting blanket, hence the 4 star review. I do think it is a good budget friendly yarn, and I would buy it again. It just isn't my favorite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good cheap yarn I bought this yarn cheap to test out a new sweater pattern — https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweater-no-9. It was splitty to work with, and pulling from the center skein resulted in a tangled mess. Not a fan of acrylic yarn, but I'm surprised how much I love this sweater. It's light and comfy, hasn't pilled much, looks good and is fun to wear. Acrylic doesn't block, so the raglan seam pops a bit. .
