Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GOOD BUY This wool is a good weight and easy to work. If you want 100% virgin wool, be careful which color skein you order. The Nature's Brown and Oatmeal colors are 100% Wool and a great buy; however, the Birch Tweed is 78% Wool, 13% Acrylic, and 9% Rayon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this wool I love this yarn. Wool is a little itchy to me but I'm excited to make this into a sweater as a Christmas gift. It tends to have a few little flaws but it's expected from something natural. And the colors are beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liover’s Knot Fisherman’s Wool It’s an easy yarn to work with and the afghan should be warm. Thinking of lining it to prevent potential itching as it is 100 percent wool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fisherman's Yarn be careful of Wool Content! I bought two skeins of this Lion Brand yarn to felt dryer balls and the birch tweed yarn was NOT 100% wool. The other skein I purchased at the same time (brown heather) is 100% wool. Otherwise an excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wool Yarn! This is my go to wool yarn for many different projects. I have made sweaters and a few blankets. It is consistently a good yarn and felts/fulls in a top loading washing machine really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Making Dryer Balls I used this 3 years ago to make wool dryer balls. They are still in great shape! Whenever friends ask me how to make them, I always recommend this wool because it has worked so well for me. I was able to make 6, of varying sizes, out of one skein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love fishermans wool I used this yarn for a throw holding oatmeal and the natural color together. My husband fell in love with it and kept trying to cover with it while it was still on the needles. The same day I finished the throw he bought me more yarn so that I could make a king size version of the throw for our bed. I would consider this yarn a light worsted weight. The yarn softens a bit after its been washed. The oatmeal and natural have 465 yards and is 100 percent wool. I don't know about the other colors as this was my first time using it. This yarn shows cables beautifully, and I didn't have any issues knitting with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I really tried to love this wool ... I recently spent some time knitting and crocheting diaper covers. I tried a variety of different wool yarns from the stores in my town. This one had such good reviews, and it was such an excellent value. However, I really don't love products made with this yarn. The yarn is a bit thin for worsted weight, and I had to us a double strand to keep the same gauge. At times, the strand splits more easily than I want it to, making this yarn difficult to work with on small projects. It feels prickly and itchy to me, more so than most other worsted wool yarns. I would never put this yarn on my feet or neck, much less on a baby! I ended up just going back and getting more of a different brand wool yarn instead, even though it was more expensive. I still have some sitting in the back of my yarn stash. Not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Knitting Wool Love this yarn! I use it to work up socks, blankets, sweaters, and other warm hand knits. Yes, sometimes it breaks, but it's wool - you can easily rub it back together. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, Quality Wool! About two months ago, my mom and I went shopping at Joann's. She expressed that she wanted me to make her a knitted hat. So I agreed, but told her she would have to choose the yarn she wanted me to use. She said she wanted it made out of wool. So, we went to the yarn aisle and saw this product, Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. Although there were other wool options and many of them less expensive, we both liked this particular yarn because it was made of 100% pure virgin wool. She chose the color she wanted (which was Nature's Brown) and bought it. I went home and started working on her hat and loved the texture of the wool. It was very nice to knit with and she absolutely loved the finished product! I even had enough wool left over to make her a matching scarf. I would definitely recommend Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool to anyone and would use it again for further projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for felting I used the natural for a felted hat, Packed down nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this yarn! I love this yarn, 100% virgin wool, it's so soft and lightweight yet warm. Unfortunately my store doesn't carry all the colors, but I'm making a sweater (crochet) right now, and it will take just over 2 skeins, as the skeins are big, over 400 yards. It's not itchy at all, and very easy to work with. Since its a natural fiber I can see the slight color variations, as I'm crocheting I can see the small areas of color change, i love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great For Large Projects Wanting to knit a fisherman's sweater I decided to go with this wool. Very durable and natural and creates wonderful cables.
Date published: 2016-01-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not 100% wool This color is not 100% wool, but a blend of 78% wool, 13% acrylic and 9% rayon. Please read the packaging. Made a large project to felt, several days to complete, and I wasted all that time and expense because it did not felt correctly . Other colors of this product line have worked perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lion Brand fishermen"s wool Yarn I decided to try felting a crochet project which requires 100% wool. Fishermen's wool is reasonabley priced. ( In case it did'nt work.) I made a handbag, a shawl and a large project bag....they all turned out BEAUTIFUL. My friends and family love them and asked me to make projects for them. The wonderful thing about felting handbags is no lining is required. Depending on your project, one or two strands can be used..when using one strand I use an E 3.5 mm. hook which gives it a "fabric like" out come and felting is not required. Can't say enough about why I love this yarn only the natural color of the wool and everything I make turns out better then I planed. :)
