The new Pellon 40 is thinner
I was using Pellon 40 to make little pouches and I like the stability and weight of it for the project. I ran out and look for some more, but it seems they changed the material of it. It's like half its size now like paper. I used the new pellon 40 and it was too fragile.I double it up and it was a bit too stiff. I wish I can find the old pellon 40 that I was working with. I just don't like the new pellon for the project I was working with.

using for face masks
I am part of a mask making team. We are using this for a third filter layer in masks to keep life simpler for the people who wear them. No worry about what is a good filter, fussing to insert and so forth. This is a bit heavier than ideal. On the plus side, when we use this midweight pellon we are completely comfortable making masks with thin cotton and using old, well washed, thin sheets for the cloth against the face. The featherweight pellon 910 is probably a better choice but sold out for now. We were a bit skeptical about using a fusible because people are going to be breathing thru these masks all day at work. Whatever chemicals and glues make fusible fuse could easily linger in the fabric for multiple washes. What we have learned is that this pellon is just heavy enough that it makes turning in the edges of a pleated mask too thick. We are cutting it inside the edge seam allowance. It is attached by the top and bottom of the pleated face mask seams but not at the sides.
I appreciate that Joann Fabrics has kept their prices fair during this crises when so many more of us need sewing supplies and cloth!

Perfect for mask lining.
Using this as a middle lining in 3-layer masks adds droplet protection for the user.

Medium weight pellon interfacing
Product arrived promptly and was used to make face masks. To date, 60 masks made for family, friends, a rehab center, and a free clinic. Free clinic will take all I can make. Keep the pellon interfacing coming!

Pellon 40 packaged in one yard cuts
This packaged Pelion 40 is lighter weight than off the bolt product that i have purchased. Probably would not have purchased if i could have felt it. Unusual Pellon 40 should be the same no matter how you purchase it. Apparently not though

Internet Order Due to Virus Pandemic
Easy to order and the transaction went well. I use a lot of Pellon stabilizer which I usually pick up myself. But due to the Cornonavirus pandemic I had to order via joann.com

Suitable for my projects
This 40 Midweight leans more to heavy weight than medium weight. It works well to stiffen and support all weights of fabric: cotton, silks, wool, leather, faux leather and jeans. I use it mostly for purses, bags and even some fashion backpacks or book bags.
Another fantastic feature is that it launders well. I've tested it in the washer in hot water. I've tested it in the dryer on the hot temperature. It does well, did not thin out or go limp. My next test is to use it as a lining instead of an interlining which is between the top fabric and lining fabric. I want to know if it will shred or come a part with a lot of brushing-up against it.
Wish me well.!

Mask filtration
I love the 45" width. I am making masks on my longarm machine and needed the wider width. I use it as a liner inside the mask for added filtration.

Just the right stabilizing I needed!
Worked like a charm! I was working with velvet, so I couldn't use a fusible interfacing. This sew-in style was perfect.

Too heavy for handbags
It was excellent as far as quality is concerned but a little too heavy for me. I used it anyway but I will not buy it again for handbags.

Stabilizer
I was just given an embroidery machine and needed some stabilizer so I could embroider without the embroidery crunching up. I put the stabilizer & pillowcase in the hoop tightly, and then embroidered one letter using a variegated thread. The stabilizer kept the pillowcase nice & taut during the embroidery! And of course that was why I had bought it! Worked great!

Stabilizer
I am a milliner and buy this stabilizer all the time for interling hat brims. since brims are cut in a curve you need something to keep the fabric from stretching. This is a nice weight for use on all fabric weights. I use it with linen, raw silk, tapestry, wool. It adds a touch opacity for the light weight fabrics. Nice product.
