How To Get It
Used For: Used with thin or lightweight fabrics to stiffen, reinforce and provide shape retention on garments, costumes, accessories and crafts.
Special Benefits: Two main types of interfacing include fusible (which is applied with heat) and sew-in. They can be knit or woven, and come in a variety of weights to reinforce different kinds of base fabric.
Pellon® 551 Sol-U-Film™ is a water soluble stabilizing backing for embroidery. It is great for machine embroidery, appliqué, cut-work, and monogramming. It allows fabric to retain its natural hand and is great for stabilizing embroidery on specialty fabrics such as diamond pique, sportswear, and net, as well as on top of napped fabrics such as velvet and terrycloth to keep stitches from sinking into the fabric. The film is translucent, which allows for easier positioning. The film dissolves quickly and easily in water.

works great for minky and fur
This works amazing as a top cover for dense embroidery designs on minky/fur for plush. Keeps everything nice and flat so no fibers come through while embroidering. peels off easy and any remaining small pieces can be removed with a water spray bottle or wet soft towel. does not spread out in a sticky mess like the soluble that is fabric like in texture. I have not tried with FSL yet.

Sol U Film is wonderful
The Pellon551 Sol U Film is wonderful when working with an embroidery machine and embroidering designs on terry towels or minky blankets. It helps keep the loft of the material down while it stitches knockdown stitches and allows for the design to lay flat.
