DIRECTIONS:

Download the patterns from the "GET PATTERNS" tab.

  • Pet bed finished sizes:
    • 18"x 24" (for small)
    • 20"x 30" (for medium)
    • 23"x 36" (for large)

    1. Enlarge the desired pattern onto paper.
    2. Cut and sew muslin pillow form.
    3. Cut two of the patterns from muslin.
    4. Layer and sew together with a 1/4" seam allowance leaving 6"-8" open along one straight edge to turn.
    5. Backstitch on either side of opening.
    6. Turn right side out.
    7. Fill and close pillow form.
    8. Fill muslin pillow form with Poly-fil.
    9. Fold in opening 1/4" to meet seams.
    10. Hand stitch opening closed.
    11. Prepare to make pillow cover.
    12. Cut one of the patterns from print fleece for the top.
    13. Fold pattern in half lengthwise.
    14. Lay folded center edge of pattern 1 1/2" from straight edge of solid fleece.
    15. This 1 1/2" will be the overlap for the Velcro in the center of the bottom.
    16. Mark lines perpendicular from the straight edge of the fleece to the pattern.
    17. Cut two of the print fleece with the 1 1/2" addition, for the bottom.
    18. Fold the straight center edge back 1" on both bottom panels.
    19. Baste folded edges close to raw edges.
    20. Add Velcro to the bottom panels.
    21. Lay Velcro centered side to side over the folded edges of the bottom panels, one on the right side and one on the wrong side of the fleece.
    22. When the panels are overlapped, the Velcro should connect.
    23. Start and end the Velcro 1" from the curved ends of the bottom panel.
    24. Sew Velcro to the bottom panels.
    25. Stitch along both long edges and across the ends of the Velcro to secure to the fleece.
    26. Press the two bottom panels together overlapping the Velcro edges.
    27. This should make a panel the same size as the top panel.
    28. Sew the top print panel to the bottom solid panel.
    29. Fold the panels to find the centers of each side.
    30. Place the top and bottom right sides together matching the centers of the sides.
    31. Sew a 1/2" seam allowance around the perimeter.
    32. Use a rotary cutter to trim the seam allowance to 1/4".
    33. Turn the cover right side out through the Velcro opening.
    34. Place the pillow form into the case through the Velcro opening.
    35. Overlap the sides of Velcro to close the back opening.
