Good qualityI bought a few yards of the matte black version of this fabric for a costume vest and am very pleased at the quality -- The "leather" imitation has a good hand, and is pebbled pleasantly. The texture isn't too much or too little. The back (the wrong side) is soft, with a durable but not itchy weave. The material itself isn't too thick so sewing in darts and pressing seams shouldn't be an issue. I haven't sewn with it yet, but I don't foresee having any issues with it.

it was very easy to work withI bought three yards of this material about 1/2 a month ago, I made a batgirl cape and cowl. It was easy to work with, I had no troubles of the edges fraying, and I didnt have to hem the edges because of this, it has a njce shiny gloss to it that makes my cape look amazing, it is very easy to wear and is not heavy at all.

Looked better in the pictureThis was not a pleather that I would use to sew. It looks very fake, does not look like leather at all. May be good for some projects.

Just what I was looking forI needed red pleather and my usual source was out. I wasn't sure if the pleather was going to be of the quality I epect for the costumes I make, because of the mixed reviews. However it was perfect if not better than what I already had. I am now a fan of Joann Fabrics.

Wrinkled Red PleatherI needed to make 20 skirts for a play. I purchased 8 yards at a store but it was not enough so I ordered online another 10. I loved working with the fabric I got at the store. I wish I could say the same for my on line purchase. It was the exact color and weight-should look the same right? well 2 yards of it had to be discarded and of the rest, at least four yards, though I used them they were not nearly the same quality due to all the wrinkles. It was so badly wrinkled on some parts I just threw it out. The other sections I tried everything. I would cut the 11/2 yards I needed for each skirt and tried pressing it on the wrong side (helped a little) I tried steaming it (did nothing but make wet wrinkles) and even put it in my oven on warm temp for a few minutes to several hours. This helped a little as well but needless to say, the kids with those skirts were in the back of the dance line! This whole process caused much aggravation as well as money in the wasted yards.
Luckily I had enough time to wait (about 2 weeks) for more to come in to the store.
Very disappointed with the online pleather.

Great MaterialI needed some royal blue fabric that could mimic a shiny armor and this was precisely what I was looking for! I needed very little and required little sewing but by the time I was done it looked phenominal. I need to buy some more for more accessories soon and will be happy to do so.

My besautiful 'Raincoat'I used this fabric to make a copy of a Calvin Klien raincoat. My sister, an excellent seamtress, assisted me and now we have many requests for the coat which turned out beautiful. We put a warm lining in it and the fabric should be treated with rain repellant for leather coats. I agree with the curving and sliding of the fabric while sewing (clips instead of pins should be used/a special pressure foot helps).

Phew...When I bought this material I needed it for a costume where the character wears a black shiny outfit. So pleather was what I ended up finding would work best. Now I am no pro at sewing, more of a beginer, but sewing this was quite the pain as it wanted to sew into a curve so I had to fight it a bit which made some of the seams a little warped but they usually still laid flat which was good.
Even though I did have a few of these issues I would definetly use this fabric again and infact I entend to within the next few months. If you want a shiny look to what ever you're making this is definetly the way to go! Just know that if you are wearing it for a while the shiny side will cause you to sweat a bit.

Excellent costume fabricI made a full body suit out of this for a Japanimation convention. It was surprisingly breathable. I didn't sweat at all!
