Its a great addition to my kitchen Does an excellent job of cooking perfect rice. Very easy to use. Cleanup is very easy also. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs a easy to use rice cooker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy multiuse cooking appliance [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Saves so much time at dinner time not having to steam the vegetables on top of having to cook rice in a separate pot. Now I can just measure out the correct amount of water, place the steam basket on the top and its ready to go when the timers done. Takes all of the guess work out on when food will be done, and it was the most delicious rice we have had. weekly staple in our house and I couldn't imagine having to cook it any other way.

It only makes 6 cups, but I find that to be the perfect amount when I cook for two. Its small and compact, and fits nicely in a cabinet under our countertop, which is a huge plus. Instructions also easy to follow.

But the steamer overcooked my frozen veggies, left a giant burned mess in the pan, and it burned my rice. I was generous with my water portions too. Too bad, I wanted a nice mini rice cooker

Try not to overcrowd when you make your veggies, it would be best to do a little bit at a time. The steam veggies come out great though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Rice Cooker-Adjust Accordingly [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Proctor Silex rice cooker and steamer is a great addition to your kitchen appliances. Rice making is easy, although you may need to adjust the rice to water ratio (I did) as the amount of rice is based on the Japanese measurement of 6 ounces rice, which may end up being a bit too wet or sticky for North American tastes. A measuring cup is included, and according to the manufacturer a 1:1 ratio usually yield good results. As noted, I reduced the water. The product also has a steamer and it's a decent one. It's not huge but for one or two people it is sufficient. You can also steam veggies while you're making rice which is a nice time saver. (Make sure and use oven mitts to handle the steamer) The unit itself is a nice size for a kitchen counter. It looks good, doesn't take up a lot of space, and it works well.

Cant I just microwave it, or throw a bag in boiling water? But then I researched it. I can steam food on top, while cooking my rice below. The rice tasted so much better, I was amazed! and I put salmon and veggies on top, just delicious
