These Schmetz needles are the best that I have used. I sew ragged quilts for family and these Schmetz needles easily sew 3-4 layers of flannel easily. I believe that the needle used is most important for creating a great project. These are the best.

Excellent for vinyl
I used these to put together a cosplay, so I was sewing 2-3 thin layers of vinyl over 4 mm high densityEVA foam. These performed beautifully in my machine and I got more than my expected life out of them. They did not stick and stayed sharp longer than expected (foam is tough on tools)

Very helpful in sewing through vinyl. Need to remember that you have to have your stitches right every time. Seam ripping leaves visible holes in vinyl.

Just what I needed to sew vinyl upholstery
These needles made sewing vinyl upholstery so smooth and easy. I would highly recommend using specific Schmetz needles for each type of fabric and upholstery to reduce/eliminate issues with stitches during sewing.

Nice to have in case you need them
These work well on two layers of 12 gauge clear vinyl. I had to tighten the tension and used a Teflon foot and plate on a Janome Skyline S7. Every once in a while I would get loose stitches but, not often enough to give up finishing my project.

Schmetz Needles saved the day
I had purchased some vinyl sling chair type material to rehab some old aluminum folding chairs. I was having trouble with the thread shredding. A Joann employee told me about the Schmetz vinyl needles. They solved the problem and i was able to complete my project!
