SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Seed beads: light blue, golden yellow, burnt orange, turquoise pearl
- 18g wire
- 0.3mm beading thread
- Ear wires
- Beading needle
- Round nose pliers
- Wire snips
- Scissors
- Ruler
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut a 6" length of wire.
- Bend wire into a 1" triangle, crossing the ends at the top.
- Twist ends and make a wrapped loop. Trim excess.
- Lay out bead design. Refer to photo for inspiration or create your own!
- Cut a 3' length of beading string.
- Knot beading string to bottom left corner of triangle, leaving a 2" tail.
- Using a beading needle, string beads for first strand of fringe.
- Bring the needle back through all beads except for the bottom one. Pull tight.
- Knot string around wire, to the right of the 1st strand knot(s).
- Bead 2nd strand of fringe.
- Bring the needle back through all but the bottom bead. Pull tight.
- Knot string around wire, to the right of the 2nd strand knots.
- Repeat for remaining strands.
- Finish with secure knots.
- Tuck tails back through a few beads and trim excess.
- Attach ear wire.
- Repeat for other earring.
JOANN HACKS:
- Wire triangles can be formed freehand using pliers or by using a mandrel.
- Big eye beading needles are easy to thread.
- Seed beads can vary in size, try to use similar sized beads when creating patterns with them.
