Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stretch and sheen I'm a cosplayer and this is my favorite cotton solid fabric at Joann. There's just a bit of stretch that makes it comfy. If you're having problems with the fabric becoming dull or shrinking, don't wash it in hot water or harsh soaps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Colors on-line not accurate to fabric I purchased bicycle red and blackberry sateen. I like the bicycle red, but the blackberry is actually purple. The picture of the blackberry on-line looks black, which is what I wanted.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wrong Color I bought this fabric for a costume I'm making for my sister. I ordered the Medieval Blue as it was the closest color match I've seen so far! It arrived and it's DARK Navy... I had to double check to make sure I ordered the right color! Surely enough.. the package shows "Medieval Blue". It's great material but I'm returning it. I would appreciate if the color online matches what is shown online. OR even was close to matching.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing fabric. I've bought this fabric to make two costumes now and I absoluty looove it! The red is georgous and it's got a very nice texture. It's lightweight and is not see through and doesn't shred, it's my go to!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made a nice dress This fabric is stiffer than quilting cotton, so it added some structure to the dress I made. The black attracts lint/hair pretty easily, which is the only downside. I would be interested in using this fabric for pants because it did have a nice stretch to it that provides a bit of give without having to be spandex-y.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from fabric order the fabric length was not correct it was short cut but one call to customer service and my account was corrected and the fabric re-purchased

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT BLUE This fabric is not as pictured at all. I received a plum colored fabric not a blue/black like the photo on this listing. The fabric quality is fine overall but you won't receive blue fabric if you order this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for shirts and tops I used this cotton sateen to make halter tops and blouses. It has a nice weight to it and a slight sheen. The fabric does shrink up so please note that if you don't wash it a few times it might be too small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worthwhile but line dry only I bought the medieval blue color to make a pleated skirt. I wanted something that would look polished for work but would not have to be drycleaned. The first time I bought this fabric, I washed and tumble dried it two times. Out of three yards total, it shrunk almost a quarter of a yard and lost most of its sheen. Then I looked at the care instructions and saw it needed to be line dried. Whoops! The second three yards I bought and (line) dried only lost about 4 inches. The sheen was not quite as nice as on the bolt but still prettier than any twill I've ever seen... I'm happy with my skirt and happy with the fabric. I plan to make another skirt in the purple color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome fabric for cosplay! I swear by this fabric as my non-satin go-to fabric. I used it in Medieval blue and white for Alice's dress and apron. I used it in brown for an Attack on Titan themed lolita skirt. I'm using it in red for another project this summer. It has a great hand and I love how it photographs. The sheen is really nice without being fake/shiny. Yes you have to iron it after you wash it, but I'd expect to iron a fabric like this. The gold trim on my Alice dress is hand painted with Jacquard Lumiere Metallic gold. It only took two coats to get the gorgeous color. This fabric also responds fairly well to dyes, however it is good to remember that it is a blended fabric so you should use dyes that are for synthetics and always test a swatch first. I've read a number of comments where people said it no longer looked like it did on the bolt once they used it. Maybe they weren't conscious of the "right side" of the fabric as opposed to the wrong side. You need to check for the right side sheen under light when putting pieces together to guarantee you've got the right side out. My biggest complaint is that the color selection is so limited. I keep seeing special colors every now and then but they're never on the website and they're never around long. JOANN PLEASE EXPAND THE COLORS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great on the Bolt I agree with the earlier reviews about the loss of sheen. In the store, this fabric is shiny and smooth. However after prewashing, it shrunk 3" in length/1" in width and lost the shine and softness. It looks/feels like a regular quilting cotton, just thicker. I tried ironing, but while the wrinkles went away, the sheen is completely gone. I'll still use the fabric since I like the thickness and stretch, but am very disappointed about the dull color.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Different on the Bolt I purchased this fabric for a pair of trousers. On the bolt, the fabric had a lovely sheen and good stretch/recovery. After washing and sewing with it, however, both of these things went away. The fabric now looks like a normal twill and it bags out with little recovery. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fabric, online color samples bad I have been using this fabric for over a year for my cosplays, and the quality of the fabric is great, but the online color samples are all innacurate to the actual fabric (except for black and white). other than that, it's a great fabric!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fabric This has become my go-to fabric for cosplays, the colors are rich and beautiful and the stretch is just enough to make it super versatile and easy to work with, without "looking" stretchy. The weight is nice- not flimsy but not bulky either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Soft and Shiny This fabric really is gorgeous. Its stretchiness and softness makes it great to wear and the color is so vibrant! It is quite wrinkly, but if one doesn't mind ironing, it really makes for a stunning garnment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not too shabby... This is something that took me a while to learn to love. There are a few things that I would have to point out to someone before making their purchase. 1. Buy more than you think you need. It shrinks. A lot. I would pre-wash and dry AT LEAST twice. 2. Do not plan on using a darker shade with a light contrast (like a collar for example). It bleeds like there's no tomorrow, even with those color absorbing sheets you throw in the washer. 3. It wrinkles terribly, but after several washings, that problem seems to disappear. I made a top out of this several months ago, and at first I was not impressed. I've washed and worn it at least a dozen times since, and now it has become one of my favorites. I love it so much, I will be making a dress out of it soon. I love the stretch and the rich color! I just wish it was great right from the beginning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I used this for a dress and I couldn't be happier. It is rich looking and the bit of stretch makes it very comfortable to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fabric for Scrub Bottoms (and tops too)! this is perfect for scrub bottoms and the side panel of the tops that are more fitted. Love it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too wrinkly This fabric felt and looked great on the bolt, just what I was looking for in color and fabric content to make capri pants. How disappointed I was to find that after washing, the fabric lost it smooth hand and appearance. Pressing with lots of steam had no effect. I wish Joann would stop "sizing" their fabric (or whatever they are using to make the fabric look good on the bolt).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baby sling quality! This is fabulous fabric and identical to the fabric of my Hotsling. I made beautiful, strong pouch slings with it.
