Rated 5 out of 5 by from On line order is the way to go! I purchase this white gauze material a couple of times a year to make cleaning cloths for my church. It had never occurred to me to order on line until this recent change in events. I usually go in and search for it, which takes me a lot longer than it should. This was amazingly easy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gauze is great Used gauze to replace sundress slip. Worked fantastic! Easy to work with for a beginner like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black gauze lightweight, effective hutch backing Flimsy cardboard-type backing on a hutch unit replaced with the black gauze stapled to the edge of the top shelf and allowed to drop down as a curtain of sorts between the shelf and the wall. It looks much better than the chipped and scratched "wood-grain" paper board.Covers up the electronic cords that hang off the back of the shelves too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for light summer clothes or halloween This fabric is light and drapey with a great wrinkley texture. It has worked fantastically for this year's halloween costume: bride of Frankenstein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Rey cosplay Bought this in the natural color and didn’t have to dye it for Rebel Legion approval! Easy to work with, even for this novice sewer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality fabric This was just what I was looking for. It is a good quality gauze. Not thin. Washed well. I bought white and was so pleased that there where no flaws or “bad spots” just nice bright white fabric.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for baby I teach babywearing at my local hospital, and this is by far my favorite fabric to use for wraps. I actually disagree with previous posters regarding how to soften it. I wash the fabric one time and hang it to dry, simply to make sure it’s clean. The way to soften it, however, is not by washing but by wearing it. After 2 or 3 uses wearing a baby it is nice and soft. I only ever wash it if it’s actually dirty. When the wrap wears out in spots, I love to cut it up and repurpose it into swaddling wraps or blankies. This material is also the only type I would recommend for covering baby in the stroller to shade them from sun. It is breathable and they will still have plenty of fresh air, unlike a tighter weave fabric. I love this material!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for cosplay! I used it for the outer robe for my Anakin Skywalker cosplay and it worked great! It looked perfect and was easy to work with. So if you're looking to make Jedi robes...I would go with this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly great The fabric was mostly great. Had a bit of stretch and is very light and breathable. I had cut my 16 yards and when I went to hem them I notice a hole about the size of a quarter. When I contacted Joann they told me to bring in that cut of fabric for a return but I had already started hemming and using the piece. I'd suggest looking at your full cut before you even start cutting and looking for holes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice quality This fabric was very nice quality, but I needed heavier weight for my project. I'll be returning it to the store, only because I goofed in making my purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WAY too rough for baby blankets I bought a few yards each of black and white gauze fabric with the intention of tie dying some shibori style and bleach resist patterns for swaddling blankets. Other reviewers said that the fabric softened with multiple washings so I risked it during a sale. I have washed each about 6 or 7 times and dried on hot as well. It's still rough and nothing at all resembling the famed A & A blankets I already love. It does have better stretch than they do, however. Since I have a few months until Baby arrives, I'll continue to wash the yardage repeatedly, but definitely don't count on this as being acceptable for touching baby skin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The papyrus color is wonderfully soft I first bought cotton gauze at Joanns in the papyrus color. This particular color is very soft and is great for clothing. I liked it so much I ordered more cotton gauze from 2 different sites (since Joann's color selection is quite small) thinking that I'd be getting the same thing, but no luck. Every gauze has been much stiffer and rougher even after multiple washings with fabric softener. After reading the varied reviews here, I'm thinking that the application of dye and/or bleaching is what makes this fabric rough. The natural color is the only one that is tolerable against skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Just For Quilts As a former Jo-Ann employee, I never heard any customers I cut for complain about this fabric. In fact I heard so many recommendations for it that I decided to make a work shirt from it. I purchased it in white and pre-shrunk it. This shirt has kept its shape beautifully and launders better than I imagined with barely a touch of the iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Love This Fabric!!! I love this fabric!! I use lots of gauze for all kinds of sewing...and this is the highest quality gauze I have found. I adore the natural, white, and papyrus especially. I find it wonderfully simple to sew and very lovely to wear!!....also, it doesn't pill at all and is very easy to keep on grain!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used for baby wrap I have been using this fabric as a baby wrap for 10 months, since my son was just a few days old. Yes it is scratchy in the beginning, but as someone else mentioned you must was it repeatedly to soften it up. Not just once or twice. We love it and it is super soft against his skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from softening the fabric Hi, cotton gauze is stiff and scratchy when you get it. To soften it up wash and dry it repeatedly. Think at least 5 times. I did this by putting it in with my regular wash, drying it and then repeating with the next load going into the washer. It will relax and shrink. Make sure to shink it before cutting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rough and scratchy I wish I had read reviews first - this is terribly scratchy and I agree that it gets worse after washing. I also intended to use this for baby items and I would pity the poor baby who had this against their skin. I bought yardage in both white and black - same problem with both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdier Gauze for Solid Price I have been using a length of this gauze as a baby wrap and then converted it to straps for a different kind of carrier, the same piece for two years. I've bought more and dyed it for other projects and loved the results. I liked it so much I have decided to purchase a large amount, but I've been having a hard time finding it in stores or ordering it from this site, but I really like it because it is sturdy, durable, easy to care for, and best of all a good price. I do recommend it to others and hope it's easier to find in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scratchy even after washing I bought 6 looooong yards of this fabric to make a baby wrap. It was not incredibly soft on the bolt, but I thought it would soften with washing. I washed it twice but it is now scratchier than it was on the bolt! I know that becuse I still have half a yard that hasn't been used. I am going to try using fabric softener, but I'm worried. I have to either put fabric softener-treated fabric around me and my baby or else scratchy fabric. Dissapointed!
