Almost too tight of a grip
This keeps your vinyl in place while being cut. It does the job well. Very strong stick the first couple of uses. I blot it with a clean cotton tshirt to reduce the extreme firm grip at first. With that said, even though my Silhouette allows me to cut without this mat, I always use it to keep the vinyl from slipping. Great product.

Consistent quality, great price
These are a necessity for using the Silhouette and I use mine all the time, so I use these mats all the time. There are some pretenders on the market, so be sure to get only the Silhouette brand for best results. Each mat lasts through many, many cuts so you don't need a lot of them. I keep a half dozen or so in my stash at all times - in different stages of use.

silhouette 12x12 cutting mat
The last mat that I purchased was not very good. The first time I used it when I pulled up the vinyl almost half the glue on it came off. I have purchased these before and have not had this problem. I'm sure it must be a silhouette issue, not Joann.

Mats are not as wonderful as the cricut mats
I am using the silhouette cameo and I just use the cricut mats because the silhouette ones are WAY to sticky that it leaves a paper residue and the mat becomes no longer sticky after 2-3 uses!!

Ok product, does the job while it's still sticky
I wish Silhouette or somebody made a product specifically for this mat that makes it sticky again. Such a waste to buy a new one so often. The spray adhesives made by other companies destroyed some of my paper, even though I used a small amount. What seems to work best for me is a new mat.
