The SINGER HD0400S Serger saves you time because it sews a seam and seam finish at the same time while trimming away any excess seam allowance. This Serger features a heavy duty metal frame, a stainless steel bedplate, 60% larger cutting knife, 2/3/4 thread capacity, free arm, differential feed, 1300 stitches-per-minute (SPM), adjustable thread tension, built-in rolled hem plate, pre-threaded color coded spools, extra high presser foot lift, 2 LED lights, quick and easy threading, and includes an All Purpose Presser Foot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing peices First brand new serger for me. Disappointed to find my shipment did not include a manual or threader. Looks to have been a return. Very disappointed! The machine itself seems to be fine. And thank goodness I am expenced in sergers already.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not pre-threaded I'm new to serging, and it would have been nice to have gotten instructions and the beginners colored thread that usually comes in these machines all lined up and pre threaded. This machine did not come with either. I printed up the instructions, which you can find online, and threaded it. It does work nicely. I wish I had bought one years ago. It makes my garments look and feel more professional. Like I said, I'm new to serging, so I can't say if it's any better or worse than any other serger out there. However, I'm glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best serger so far I am a first time Serger, and I am so pleased with the Singer 14HD854 model. I have to admit the hardest part is threading the thread but once you get past that with the help of the manual or online help if needed you are ready to sew! It works with 2,3 or 4 threads, 6 different stitch types and great for rolled hems, blind hems and finishing raw edges. Perfect for all fabrics and won't rip or pucker. The finish was exactly what I was looking for when working with multiple types of fabrics and gives a professional finish. I can't believe I was so intimidated for so many years as this is so much simpler than I expected and I have been able to have professional results on my projects.

The main issue is threading the machine, the design does not make it easy to do at all. I would also like it if the baggie that catches the excess cut-off fabric didn’t have to hang off the table.
