Rated 3 out of 5 by from I Purchased A New Machine, But I Got A Used One! Two hours ago, I picked up my online order for a Singer 4411 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine. It was on sale, but nothing indicated that it wouldn't be new. My first clue was that the box had been retaped. The second clue was that even though it was in the box in a bag with styrofoam around it, it wasn't packed and sealed like my other new machine had been. Third, the accessories were in the right location (accessory storage bin in front of the bobbin) but weren't the standard accessories. Fourth, the machine had been recently oiled and there were a couple of oil drips on the machine. When I reached up into the machine, my hands came out oily. I cleaned and dried the machine, then threaded it. As I was threading the bobbin, I noticed several needle scratches on the bobbin cover. The needle position switch is sticky and I haven't tried all the stitch patterns yet. The straight stitch seems to be working just fine. I'm disappointed. My older machine is also a Singer Heavy Duty and works great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was good while it lasted I'm an intermediate sewist. I sew at least twice a week, and I bought this machine December 20th, 2023 to replace an oooold White machine i had been using and needed to upgrade to a machine with a built in light and had stitch length options. It was all going good until last night when the bobbin tension just started acting up. I cleaned up the inside to clear it of lint, oiled it, adjusted the tension 100s of times, changed the needle twice, changed the thread and bobbin, and even played around with the pressure foot. Nothing was working. I spent HOURS, 3 or 4 honestly, trying to get it to work. Nothing was working and i was at my wits end. I took it to a sewing machine repair location, and they told me that it's wasn't worth fixing because it was A) $200 for servicing it and B) they saw so many issues with these Heavy Duty branded machines that they just stopped bothering with them. I'm the words of the repair lady, "there's nothing heavy duty about these machines" and honesty i have to agree. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not at all heavy duty I have a 1927 treadle machine that handles more fabric than this machine. I tried sewing through 3 layers of gathered cotton and it can’t do it. I’ve broken more needles on this machine than any other. Get the antiques. They don’t make them like they used to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Singers aren't what they used to be! I purchased this as a replacement for my previous Singer (same model). First, it's NOT the same (my old model is about 7 years old), but nothing so major to be concerned about. My 'old' model made LOTS of projects, handled every sort of material - it was wonderful. When it jammed up, I was mid project and didn't want to wait to see if it was repairable. The cost of taking it in to repair was close to getting a new one, so I figured, I'd get another of the one I loved so much. WRONG!!! SAVE YOUR $$ - look for something else!. I got LESS THAN 3 HOURS of use and it jammed. Joann's doesn't take returns, I was told to call Singer. Singer then informed me that there is only a 90 DAY warranty on parts (no warranty comes in the packaging, they email it after you complain)....and there are only 2 authorized warranty repair places in my state (MI)...one is 1.5 hours away, the other over 3 hrs drive away!. When I called the repair center, they - the authorized Singer warranty repair place - told me (and I quote) "Singers are basically disposable nowadays". ??!?! Needless to say HUGE disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very upset I bought this machine a few weeks ago and now I am stuck with one that can't work. In the beginning the hand wheel was jammed and my father had to take it about to fix it. Noŵ it only creates holes with no string. Buy this at a different store if you really want it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy this sewing machine! I bought this “heavy duty” Singer sewing machine in December, but did not open it and use it until late February. I wanted a machine that would sew faster so that I could complete more projects quicker. I was very disappointed. First of all it was much, much louder than my Brother machine. I couldn’t even hear the TV. Second, there was absolutely no time saved by the higher sewing speed bc it took more time to manually thread the needle, turn the wheel to get it to stop with the needle down to pivot/turn, and turn the wheel each time to manually raise the needle to remove the fabric. All this was time consuming and put a strain on my right hand and wrist. Then less than a month after I started using it, it lost all upper tension and kept looping and bird nesting under the fabric. I tried everything I could think of: checked the bobbin, re-threaded the machine, removed the plate and cleaned out the dust, etc. But to no avail. I don’t recommend this machine at all. It’s a total waste of money. I’m going back to my old Brother machine that may not sew as fast, but is quieter, has an automatic needle threader, has the option for stopping with the needle up/down so I rarely have to touch the hand wheel, and is also a lot easier to clean. This Singer is a piece of junk and I wish I could get my money back. It is not worth trying to get it fixed bc the Singer Center is so far away I would need to take a plane.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK with 1 problem I purchased 2 4111 heavy duty machines a few years ago. I have a problem with the plastic bobbin cover. It won't close correctly and keeps opening. I have had to tape the plastic cover on both sides. This is frustrating for me.
