A perfect add-on giftThis was the perfect added touch/stocking stuffer for the new crocheter or knitter! When I teach a new crocheter or knitter, it's often a challenge to help them get all the necessary auxiliary tools. This set is the answer! Small, affordable, a little of this and that - all in all, a wonderful gift!

handy, smallI like this set. I bought it because purchasing all the little things separately would have been much more expensive. I like the plastic knit check, its light weight for my yarn pouch. The one sold separately is metal. The yarn needles are pretty, but they will just be backups for me, because the plastic bends. I have realized that stitch markers do in fact get lost, despite your best intentions, so Im happy there are quite a few included, with different sizes. I like this style stitch marker that you don't have to clip, you just twist it on and off your yarn. The row counter isn't amazing quality, but it will actually fit on a few medium sizes of crochet hooks and yarn needles, which is helpful if you don't want to use pencil and paper. I like that it is small. I'm still new to knitting, so i haven't used the cable needle/holder but im happy to have it, and the little double sided crochet hook/needle is helpful with dropped stitches. I keep most of these things in an altoids tin with my other travel sewing/knit/crochet stuff. Especially if you have a coupon, i think its worth the money. I keep it rubber banded to a field notes book, unrelated, but a good trick if you crochet or knit during the day when you are out. I had to counter the other bad review. This is a good basic set.

A good idea, but not executed wellI bought this about a month ago, because I was just learning to crochet and liked that a lot of things I needed came in one handy kit. I thought it would come with instructions, but it did not. The items are in a little plastic bag that is attached to a piece of cardboard, that has all the included items listed on the back, with a brief description what they are used for.
The reason for my low review is because when I opened it, I discovered it was missing an item. I really needed yarn needles (for my amigurumi), and it is supposed to have two, but mine only had one. I was mad, but didn't want to waste time sending it back over such a small thing. I went on using the one yarn needle I had, until maybe two weeks later, when the (plastic)needle snapped in half. I put tape around it, but felt like an idiot trying to sew yarn ends with this broken taped needle. As soon as I could, I purchased a steel large eye needle, and have been using that (not purchased at Jo-ann)
The only thing I haved used from the pouch (besides the broken needle), are the stitch markers. Perhaps if it had instructions for how to use some things (the knit counter? Tried it, doesn't seem to work), and a better description of what things are (there is a handi-tool, a stitch holder, and a cable stitch holder; I don't know which is which or how to use any of them).
