  1. PREP WORK SURFACE:
    • Cover your work surface with a disposable covering and fill a glass or cup with water.

  2. CUT WATERCOLOR PAPER:
    • Cut one sheet of watercolour paper to have four pieces that measure 3"X 2" in size.

  3. TRANSFER OUTLINES:
    • Using the provided outline as a guide, freehand draw the outlines on the working paper using a graphite pencil, or transfer the outlines by using a Lightbox or a well-lit window.

  4. MIX FIVE PAINT COLORS IN WATERCOLOR PALETTE:
    • To mix the 5 colors with the same paint to water ratio, use a #4 brush as if it were a spoon. Place 3 scoops of water into 5 wells on the artist palette. Mix the following colors into those wells until you have an equal paint to water ratio for each color:
    • Yellow: Cadmium Yellow only
    • Red: Four parts Alizarin Crimson and one part Burnt Umber
    • Light Green: Sap Green only
    • Dark Green: Two parts Viridian Hue, two parts Ultramarine, and two parts Burnt Umber
    • Turquoise: One part Ultramarine, one part Viridian Hue, and three parts Chinese White

  5. APPLY FIRST SECTION OF PAINT TO GIFT TAGS:
    • Use the #2 round brush for the entirety of each gift tag.
    • Christmas Tree Tag: Apply Turquoise to the far left tree and Dark Green to the far right tree. Then, apply Red to the far left tree holder and Yellow to the middle tree holder.
    • Christmas Gifts Tag: Apply Turquoise to the far right gift but not to the ribbon on the same gift. Then, apply Red to the berries above the far right gift.

    • Christmas Gifts Tag: Apply Red to the far left gift, Red to the ribbon on the far right gift, and Dark Green to the holly leaves.
    • Ornaments Tag: Apply Red to the middle ornament.
    • Mistletoe Tag: Apply Light Green to the third branch from the left and to the fifth branch from the left.
    • Allow the paint in this step to fully dry before moving on to the next step.

  7. APPLY THIRD SECTION OF PAINT TO GIFT TAGS:
    • Christmas Tree Tag: Apply Red to the circles on the star above the middle tree.
    • Christmas Gifts Tag: Apply Light Green to the middle gift.
    • Mistletoe Tag: Apply Red to the ribbon.
    • Allow the paint in this step to fully dry before moving on to the next step.

  8. APPLY DOODLES ON GIFT TAGS USING BLACK MARKER:
    • Using the outline and finished image as a guide, apply doodles on each gift tag using the black marker.

  9. CUT CORNERS ON TAGS AND ADD FINISHING TOUCHES:
    • Using a pair of scissors, cut along the graphite lines on the corners of each gift tag.
    • Then, punch a hole at the top of each gift tag using a hole punch, using the outline on each tag to know where to punch.
    • Finally, using the pair of scissors, cut a piece of string that is approximately 8" long and then tie the string through the hole using a double knot.
