Rated 1 out of 5 by from garbage If you plan on using this for any extended period of time or frequently, plan on buying a few of them. This is the third one I've purchased. After a while the heating element does not reach desired heat levels. When put on high or medium settings, I'm able to touch with my hand without burning. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for traditional appliqué This is a great tool for traditional turned edge template appliqué. It does take a while to heat up but then it's good to go for hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from time saver I bought my Clover Mini Iron 6 months ago and don't know why I waited so long. It is such a time saver as I can keep it on and ready to iron my small quilt pieces or embroidery designs right by my machine without having to get up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Resting Plate too Flimsy I bought this about one month ago and the first time I used it the barrell of the unit discolored due to the heat. This makes me wonder exactly how hot the unit is actually getting. Also, the resting plate is so flimsy that my iron came off it and melted the plate completely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will be returning I bought this to press seams on quilt blocks as a full size iron is a bit bulky sometimes. I had it plugged in and turned on high for over an hour and it never reached a high enough temp to nicely press the seams. The package says on high it will reach 560*F. Used my husbands temperature gun to check it and it barely even reached 200*F. The stand that comes with it to rest it on in between uses is cheap and unstable. I will be returning this to the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Tool for intended use I purchased this iron and the larger flat iron attachment to use to press seams on quilt pieces and also to iron down applique pieces for in-the-hoop applique. It does take about 10 minutes to heat up. However, I am pretty sure I read that on the packaging. I usually turn my iron on when I get up to the sewing room to give it plenty of time to heat up. I set it just past medium and it gets plenty hot enough to handle the tasks I use it for. It is not intended to be used to iron out wrinkles. It has saved me a LOT of time when I am appliqueing because I don't have to get up and walk to the ironing board every time I add a small piece into the hoop. I would highly recommend it for these types of projects! You do have to be careful with the neck of the appliance as it does get very hot. That is also very well documented on the packaging.
