Singer 14CG754 Profinish Overlock Serger is rated 3.6470588235294117 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work Horse I have been sewing for family and professionally for over 40 years. My Singer serger is the third serger I've purchased. Two other brands I've owned have worn out. I have used this serger on heavy tapestry for theatrical productions and most recently on silk organdy for an antique parasol restoration and recovering. Stitching is even and so fast (my favorite feature). I especially like it for quick and easy T-shirts, edging on fleece projects, and even refinishing the edges of terrycloth items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to thread!!! Thanks to my friend, I had the chance to use her Singer Profinish Overlock Serger and I loved it. This encouraged me to buy my first Serger a month and a half ago. My local JoAnn’s store in Torrance, didn’t have it at the sale price so I bought it from the store in Lakewood, CA. Andrew, the manager was very kind and accommodating. I’ve used before a Husqvarna Viking H class Serger, threading it is difficult and the machine keeps breaking down. I didn’t like it. The Singer Serger is easy to thread, the instructions on the manual and the video on the website are very helpful. It is a smooth machine and so far I’ve used it for a variety of fabrics. As I go along I don’t need to use the tweezers to help me threading it. I’m very pleased with this purchase and most of all with the customer service I received.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poorly engineered This is the third serger I have owned. I had a terrific White, a temperamental Pfaff, and then this thing. Do yourself a favour and don't bother with this. When I bought it, the sales clerk at Joann gave me instructions on how to return it. That should have been my first clue! You need to have the hands of a five year old to maneuver the needles in and out of their slots, and the holes for the loopers don't clear the steel mechanisms that make them work, which makes this machine incredibly difficult to thread. Then right in the front of the machine is this plastic gizmo, I have no idea what it's for, but it blocks access to the right side of the threading/looping area. Fortunately, I saved every bit of packaging, every accessory, and every plastic bag and twist tie. Joann took this piece of junk back, no questions asked. Don't put yourself through the pain. Get a Juki or a Brother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have one of these and love it -- the stitches always look perfect. I love it for roll hemming tablecloths and napkins and I do a lot of these. My granddaughter wanted a serger like mine for graduation, so bought her one five days ago. I would hate to be without my Singer serger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! As a total serger "nooby," I wanted one that was easy to use and offered the basic options. It does just that. I'm very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast, lots of stitches and easy to use!! This machine runs like a horse!!! Fast and strong. It's my third serger and it does its job very well. You'll need a few practices to learn the threading but with online tutorials I found online, piece of cake. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite simple and easy - you will need a good tweezer and a mini flashlight...! Other than that, this serger is highly recommended - I've tried with these fabric and worked well: with cotton, spandex, poly mix, canvas/duck and upholstery! Great price for the value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good light weight starter machine I've had this machine for over year, it is my first serger. The timing was off out of the box and worked much better after having it corrected at a shop (apparently this is common ). Would buy again as a first machine but would not use this for anything more than medium weight fabrics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will be returning this machine I bought this machine "as a new serger owner" 3 weeks ago planning on having some classes to attend to learn, this machine, o my surprise Joanne's dosent offer them Threading and inserting needles, for and older person with not great vision, I would not recommend, this surger. I didn't have a lot of money to invest in a serger that is more vision friendly.
