Fingerling Baby Yarn - Bernat
I have made numerous prayer squares for my Sewing/Crafts group @ Via Christi St. Joseph Wichita, Ks. The yarn is excellent to work with. The prayer squares when finished will have a Catholic medal attached and given to the parents of miscarried babies. I love this yarn and it makes up so beautiful.

Splitsville
I bought this yarn to crochet hearts for a neonatal organization. The yarn was extremely difficult to use because it would always split. I had to constantly retry pulling through loops because my hook would grab the other loop. Will never buy again.

Horrible to work with, dull finished product!
I made the mistake of buying two skeins of this stuff and I'm terribly disappointed!! The first one I pulled from the center and it split and unwound badly, making it difficult to crochet with and made the finished baby blanket look messy. So, the second skein I tried using from the outside, thinking the twist might stay better that way. NOPE!! It untwisted and split just as bad. And, both of the blankest I made have a very dull finish. I much prefer just about any other brand of baby yarn!!

Great Baby Sweater Yarn
Bernat Baby yarn crochets up beautifully for baby sweaters. I have also used it in place of crochet thread #10 for baby girl dresses, and is a great replacement. Everything crochets up soft and light!

Excellent quality yarn
I have used Bernat baby yarn for several projects for my two grand children and the clothes I have created have lasted for quite some time, through play time, cleanings, and even messy dinners. :) I would recommend this yarn for many different baby clothes/blankets.

Great baby yarn
The first baby blanket I ever knit was with this yarn. It worked up beautifully. The blanket turned out super soft, and even several years later (and many washes) it still looks great.

Beautifully Soft Yarn
I bought four different colors of yarn from Joanns and I was pleasantly surprised at the great price and excellent product! I've been looking all over for reasonable yarn prices and just happen to stumble upon Joann's sale - thanks for such a great deal!

Great baby yarn
I continually buy this yarn for baby gifts as well as donations for preemies. It doesn't split, is very easy to work with and the colors are beautiful. My only wish is that they came in larger sizes!

soft and fine
I make preemie baby clothes for the hospital for mother's that have no clothes for their babies, and bereavement outfits for babies that do not survive. To make such small outfits it is necessary to find small gauge yarn which is not available at most stores and the "Bernat Baby" is very soft for their tender skin and easy to work with.

smaller than expected
I used the label to compare it to yarn I had bought before, but was disappointed to find that it was much thinner than the skein I bought in the store. It would have been nice to see all Bernat yarn compared side to side to see the difference.

Soft
I purchased this yarn on sale to make baby hats for a charity. The yarn is okay but the yarn seems to separate when I'm working with it. I crochet so I'm constantly removing the last couple of stitches to redo. I like the softness of it and I keep on buying it. I prefer the Jamie because of the bright colors but this has a lot more yarn for the money so I buy both.

machine washable - but should hand wash
I used it for a sweater that I could wash. Very few size 1 yarns out there are not wool. Easily pills.

I would live to have this yarn back in the stores. Very hard to find. It is the perfect weight to use for the neonatal unit sweater sets. Very soft for the wee babies as the other weights are too heavy. Not even in Canadian shops.

Bernat "Baby" used to be baby/fingering weight, however, it untwisted and would split as you knit with it. It was too slick to hold a knot and yet it tangled just by looking at it. They then "improved" it...now they've added bulk making it closer to sport weight! My traditional baby dress is knit on needles size 1&2 making a newborn-6 mo size dress. You can't use size 1 needles with this yarn! It comes out stiff! Baby/fingering weight yarn needs to be thin, pliable and reliable! I no longer purchase it. I check yard sales and thrift stores for old skeins of Red Heart Baby Yarn.

I really wanted a fingering yarn, I bought this, make a couple of blankets, knitted and crochet, but not real happy with it, because it is too heavy. I used to be able to get the smaller ply fingering yarn and this is not it. Can someone let me know where I can get it, price about the same as this one.

Fingering Yarn
Yes, it seems thicker than the old Bernat Baby, but it works up to the exact gauge called for in most of my OLD baby patterns - 7 sts to the inch on #3 needles. The swatch I made had beautiful even stitches unlike the 100% acrylic which I totally dislike. I have probably 10 balls of each color of the old stuff that I will not use because it does NOT knit to guage. Love the new yarn. It has a nice hand and a sturdy finish, again unlike the OLD yarn. Thank you, Bernat, for a nice yarn.

Why has Bernat changed their yarns?
I am also upset that Bernat has changed their yarn content. They have also changed the Baby Coordinates...horrible and rough...colors are terrible. I emailed Bernat at:
inquire@bernat.com
Maybe if enough people complain they will change back to the original yarns.
