Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK it was a little fussy setting it up but worth i I'm a hardwire kinda guy so I connected with a USB cable. I think a great deal of the trouble folks are having can be side stepped by forgetting wireless connection. MHO. The only other puzzle was updating the machine. Short story-The computer sees the DC 200 as a removable disk. The computer will indicate a new removable disk folder in the file manager when the DC200 is plugged in and powered up. Once I thought to copy and paste the machine update into this new folder, it happily updated itself. From there is was just load the Canvas Workshop and Design n Cut software, set things up on-line and away we go. I'm using Inkscape, a great vector art program which happens to be free(!!), to design my projects. I save as an .svg file which squirts through Canvas Workshop no problem. In fact I choose the DC200 because it would allow me to use powerful vector software with Canvas Workshop. I've used the DC200 to cut and draw and have had perfect success whenever I've used it. I've mostly cut paper and vinyl for masks to be used with airbrushing. Soon I'll be cutting .01" styrene sheet. I'm using the DC200 for my scale modeling. I'm happy and the DC200 must be happy too as it makes the most delightful sing-song sounds while it's doing it's work.

I am a novice crafter and love to test my skill, this DesignNCut has made it so simple to create any image or design I can come up with. The cutter on this is precise and gets a clean edge cut each time. The large reusable cutting mat keeps all my vinyl, paper and other types of material firmly in place with its adhesive siding that doesn't transfer any residue on to the material I am cutting. The cutting mat even has a protective film to keep the mat preserved in between uses. I initially was intimidated with the set up of connecting online and manual programming. Once I re-read and familiarize my self with the flow of commands that needed to be followed to link my cutter online properly it became a simple quick process to complete. I love The software offer a wide range of fonts, pre loaded images and even offers more option through the online link. Over all this is a decent cutter and works great for at home use. I would recommend this to others because it cuts precise, has different settings to match your crafting needs and cuts at a fast speed.

The machine itself is beautiful. Its shaped nice its not very large and the sticker on the front is cute but thats about all I can tell you about it. I haven't been able to actually use it yet because I haven't been able to get past step 2 for 3 weeks! This should be so simple to set up but for some reason or another I guess you have to be a rocket scientist to complete this task. Ive even had other people try and nope, nothing. You should not have to call customer service to set this thing up, I refuse to. So maybe someday I will get this set up and be able to do all the awesome projects I would love to do with this and then I can leave a 5 star review. But until then it's going to continue sitting on my table. Im very glad I was given this free for my honest review because I would be very upset otherwise.

There is so much a person can create from making designs for clothing to making pillows of any kind. The unit is small enough to fit anywhere. The DesignNCut can cut through any kind of material. My family has enjoyed using it very much and my kids are coming up with ideas all the time.

We had a great time designing things for tee shirts for a up coming party. After a couple times trying, we got the hang of it and are having a blast. This is a must have for us now.

I have followed the directions carefully and loaded the app, done the setup and I am unable to connect the machine to my device. I am not sure I will ever get to using it! The directions are specific, but I am not getting the appropriate response from the machine. Super frustrating and not very user-friendly. Disappointing.

I've had almost a month to play around with it so I'll start with the directions. You have to download the directions from pdf form. There were 10 pages which was a little discouraging at first. Since I've never used one of these,it would of been nice to have the directions on paper in front of me. I wanted to start with learning how to cut first. The personalization feature of using your own handwritten messages intrigued me so I started there. I have to admit that it's kind of addicting for a newbie like me. This came with a few accessories which was nice because I didn't know exactly what I would need to get started. Theres a standard blade holder,spatula,12x12 mat and calibration sheet. Now,you have choices with this machine on whether you want to use it wireless or connect it to your PC with a USB cable. This is cloud based,so I had choices from logos,clip art,using existing files,or by creating my own. Once I had my design picked out,I got the hang of cutting and then eventually worked my way to trying embossing and perforations. I have yet to try rhinestone templates but plan on dabbling into that and letting my daughter help,and learn this machine. Right now I'm using paper for some practice runs and then I want to make Christmas cards for family members. One extra thing I love is that you dont have to pay an annual fee or subscription fee. I dont want to have to pay anything extra after the expenses of supplies and everything so that was a bonus. All in all,this design and cut DC200 machine is a good choice for you if you have patience reading through a PDF file,or if you dont mind printing it out. It seems like a decent starter/beginners machine since theres not a ton of extra supplies to confuse you. I'm looking forward to trying new projects with this!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gave me a migrane headache [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't know what's wrong here, others have said the machine works great but I can't even get it to hook up to the Brother CanvasWorkshop in order to run a pattern or two thru it. The first time I tried it kept telling me that my machine wasn't registered so I registered it again. The second time it gave me that message I registered a third time. Then once the program noticed that I was registered, it gave me an error message saying I had to update the firmware in the machine. So I attempted to do that and the update would not upload into the machine. I took three days off just hoping that the registration and the update would take affect and the machine would work for me. No such luck. It has been about 3 weeks since I received the machine and it is still not working. I keep getting the same error messages even tho I know the machine is registered now because it shows the registration on the Brother.com site now and I know it has had a firmware update because I've done it three times already and I know my computer is up to date. This is a great machine once you can tolerate enough headaches to get it up and running. I know because people keep telling me that, they just can't seem to get mine up and running for me. I will update this review in the future if I am able, and if I am able to get it to work.

The software doesn't seem to be very user friendly, and I consider myself a tech savvy person. The WiFi is near impossible to connect, and the manual is laughable. All in all, I say go with a different machine.

You download the program on your computer or even your phone, connect it to the machine, and it will cut whatever you send it from your computer. The program even has some cool free templates. We tried the 3-d bird box, which turned out beautiful. This is an amazing machine and I highly recommend it!

With some patience and practice though, the time and effort paid off and I absolutely love crafting with this machine. It’s lightweight so it can easily be moved from room to room if need be. If you have the patience it’s definitely worth checking out considering it’s much more affordable than most others out there.

The software is not user friendly and overly confusing to accomplish simple tasks - I have used other cutting tools and this by far was the worst.

I used my desktop in order to make the designs I wanted. I did a dinosaur party for my son and I was able to make beautiful and perfect cutouts for my son. I was very pleased with product. At first it took a while to get use to but once you get the hang of it is very easy, practice makes perfect. I think this machine is great for the price too compared to others out on the market more expensive. I really recommend this machine to anyone doing DIY designs at home, or make it a hobby is really fun.

I will say, it took me awhile to figure it out and the connection process was a little difficult. Once I got past that, though, it was really easy to use. I love being able to design my own designs then being able to print and cut them. One thing that kind of annoyed me was that I can't figure out how to unlock the patterns on the Brother website. Overall, it's a pretty nice machine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine makes perfect cuts, and the depth guide is spot on for the materials that you are cutting. I played with it, but it knows exactly what you are supposed to use. I am not going to lie, the set up process was a little difficult. I found that when you are taking pictures to calibrate the machine this part can be frustrating, but just find a YouTube video, that’s what helped me. Once you get it set up, it is so worth it. I am very happy and excited about using this.

I'm so excited for the items that I'm making for Christmas I have already started, and I'm very impressed with the quality of the way they have come out, I was a little skeptical because I didn't think that it was going to work very well, but it did I love the way it looked the size is nice on I thought it was going to be bigger because it came as such a big box, but I asked you can carry it around and a case with me when I go to family members house and we can work together on crafts for the family, really excited to make even more crafts for Christmas,It wasn't difficult at all to use

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun to use, but a bit confusing to set up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So let me be honest, when it first arrived at my house and I opened the box and starting taken everything out, I got a little over whelmed by it all. I was reading the directions and they were a bit confusing, so I asked my friend to come over an help me try to set up it. It took us about a half hour to get everything set up. Once everything was set up it was a piece of cake from there. You first do need to download the design n cut manager application which is free. Also, there is no service you have to pay to run the machine, it is FREE. Once that is downloaded you are able to use your computer or tablet, w/e device you have it hooked up to, to transfer the graphic design you want to the machine to be able to print it out. You can print on just about anything, vynil, paper, foam, fabric and so much more, I love that you are not limited to what you can print on. Now I am not very tech savvy, so I did mess up a few times, but that is ok because practice makes perfect. Hard work can pay off because you can make money with this little machine. It is compact too, so it doesn't take up much room. I keep it on my desk at all times, ready to go. I am so excited once I finally got it to work, I think everyone should own one of these, it is perfect you can make so much stuff. This is perfect for that crafter in your family, you will not be disappointed with it, I do recommend being a little techy savvy or knowing someone who is to help you get it set up the first time around. After that, you will be fine. And can create all kinds of things for different projects or sell!

It was somewhat easy to set it up especially when you are following the guide. It took me about 15 minutes to connect the machine to the design n cut application, I installed the designNCut manager app on my phone and computer so I can work on both, once connected to that app, I tried to connect it to the canvas workshop on my computer but it wasn't easy I had to watch multiple video to figure it out I took off one star for that reason I think the guide was not enough clear on that part. The machine itself is great and very easy to use once connected. If you are a craft lover like me you will enjoy it . I'm a beginner but able to realize a few great project with it.

I must start off by saying how excited I was to use it. It was a bit intimidating though with the set up process but after I got thru that, it was fun to use. You can use an array of materials to be cut to almost anything you can imagine. I love how you can create your own art and cut it on the material you choose. The things you can create with this machine whether your an expert or diy person, will be able to find the ideas are limitless!
