SIZE:
Finished Circumference About 18 1/2" (47 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes
Finished Height About 11" (28 cm)
GAUGE:
9 stitches = about 4" (10 cm) over Stockinette stitch worked in the round (knit every round).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:Hat is worked in one piece in the round on double pointed knitting needles. If you prefer, you can work the hat on a 16" (40.5 cm) long circular needle, then change to double pointed needles to work the last round.
The pompom is tied onto finished Hat.
HAT:
With A, cast 42 stitches onto 4 of the double pointed needles - with 10 sts on each of 2 needles and 11 sts on each of 2 needles.
Place marker for the beginning of the round. Join by working the first stitch on the left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist the stitches.
Work in Stockinette stitch worked in the round (knit every stitch on every round) until Hat is about 11" (28 cm) long.
Last Round: *Knit 2 stitches together; repeat from * around - you'll have 21 stitches.
Thread yarn tail into blunt needle and draw through remaining stitches. Pull to gather, then knot securely.
FINISHING:
With B and following package instructions, make a pompom.
Tie pompom to the top of the Hat.
Weave in yarn ends.
