It is a full sized mechanical sewing machine equipped with 22 built in stitches plus 1-step buttonhole all easily viewable on the flip up stitch chart. Janome’s world class vertical oscillating hook bobbin ensures straight, beautiful, consistent sewing on all fabric types. Convenient features like the built-in needle threader, auto-declutch bobbin winder, wide sewing area, and huge amount of accessory storage space make sewing enjoyable. The adjustable foot pressure dial allows you to easily adjust to any thickness of fabric from delicate to multiple layers with ease.     Rated 1 out of 5 by from Skipped Stitches I spent more time troubleshooting this sewing machine than actual sewing. No matter what I do, it keeps skipping stitches. It is most obvious with zigzag stitches and Jersey fabric. I've have tried switching out new needles and needle types (jersey, stretch, microtex and universal) and I will get skipped stitches sooner or later. I've only had good success with a straight stitch on woven fabric. I find this sewing machine to be lacking as a first machine.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disappointed, not what I expect from Janome This is my third Janome. I was very happy with my previous machines. A part broke on my daily machine and I didn't have time to wait for a repair. I sew 4-6 hours a day and couldn't afford the down time. This machine was inexpensive, had good reviews and was available immediately locally. My primary grievance is the stitch size and consistency. What is a size 2 or 3 stitch on my other two Janomes is very tiny on this machine. There is basically nothing that I would consider a basting stitch. In addition, I find that the stitch size is not consistent. There are occasional larger stitches in a line of small stitching, and sewing several straight seams with the same stitch size, some stretches of seam will be smaller stitches than others. The needle plate is not flush with the extension table, so that you cannot just easily slide your fabric but must make sure it clears the bump first. I also find that the thread frequently becomes dislodged from the take up lever. My pictures show the stitch size as indicated in the user's manual, and actual stitch size. I cannot return this without payiing a restocking fee, and I cannot be without a machine, so I am just struggling along while I get my old machine repaired.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mechanical sewing machine I got this machine because I wanted a nice mechanical machine and this one seems to have it all, including one-step buttonhole, free arm, drop feed dogs, adjustable presser foot pressure (which isn't usually included). It sews smoothly but is louder than my computerized machine. It comes with extra bobbins, needles and presser feet, including a zipper foot, buttonhole foot, and one to sew buttons on which I've never had.

It had all of the features I was looking for and then some without being too fancy for a beginner. I was able to take it out of the box and begin sewing immediately, testing some practice stitches. It’s been so easy to learn on and sews wonderfully.

First off, this is my first Janome machine and was purchased as a replacement. It is a front load bobbin (which I prefer as that is what I am used to). It is a low shank like my old one and all the attachments fit perfectly. The extra width is nice when sewing bigger items. Makes it a lot easier. The little storage compartment flips open so there is no need to remove the whole thing to get to whatever you keep in there. LOL It is so easy to use and sews so nice. Glad I read all the reviews and did my research as well. There is one youtube video about this machine and it was super helpful as well. It also comes with great instructions. So glad I decided on this Janome machine.

I chose this one because it has a couple of features my old one didn't have but is still basic and a front load bobbin, which I personally prefer. I am also able to use my excisting presser feet. It came very well packaged; nothing was damaged or missing. It sews beautifully. The presser foot could be a bit higher but otherwise I love this machine. This is also my first Janome product. Glad I did my research.

When I opened the box , out popped a dead roach, after my panic attack I proceeded to find , the machine was very rough, stitches we not smooth, and there was no bobbin in the machine. So back it goes as I thought. I returned it to a store, to be very loudly informed they don’t take them. I contacted customer service for what to do. Still no reply.

If you have sewn before this is a very self explanatory machine. If not, the instructions in the manual are easy to follow and provide illustrations. I didn’t realize it wasn’t a drop in bobbin when I purchased it but it was very easy to get used to the bobbin style. So far so good.

I was considering a few different and costlier machines but happy to have found this at Joanns for a very nice entry level price! This is a solid machine with great basic stitches! Would love to share pictures of her very first project bag, but there is no attachment here for photos.

This machine was perfect for me. I was originally concerned with being able to make button holes to match the size for my projects. It took a bit of figuring out to get the attachment set up correctly, but once I did the machine surpassed my expectations for being easy and quick. My suggestion would be to post a video on attaching the button hole attachment to supplement the written instructions.

It runs smoothly and quietly, stitches beautifully, and even tackles hard stuff like thick tote handles. I love the fun variety of stitches and super-easy buttonholes, and the extra-large sewing deck is a nice improvement. I could not be happier with this birthday gift to myself! It's a great, sturdy sewing machine which I look forward to enjoying for many years to come.

I honestly didn't want to do it, but it is too heavy, and this has been sticking. So a friend had told me about her new Janome and how great it was. I did my research, and now I am a proud owner of this machine. It runs beautifully, is very easy to understand, stitches smoothly, and the great thing is that all my feet, bobbins, and needles from my Kenmore will work with the new machine. I would advise anyone looking for a sewing machine to look no further.
