Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just right for general use! Bought this to replace one that went missing. (The plastic alternative I had was thick and clumsy to fit in the pocket of my knittng bag) As other reviewers have mentioned, it can get bent, but it's still quite sturdy. I also prefer the thinness of the metal over the thicker plastic for checking stitch guage: you can really see just how the stitches are lining up in the window. It doesn't have ALL the sizes, but as the review title suggests, it's just right for most projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Knitting needle/crochet hook sizing gauge Good gauge. Metal so lasts years. Wish they would add in between sizes for smaller needles like 1s and 2s in BOTH the millimeter sizes available for better accuracy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As pictured It's just what I was needing. The material could have been heavier, but it works as long as it doesn't get bent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as pictured The Knit Chek that I received was a different version than the one pictured (it was red/raspberry-colored instead of black, and it had more holes for checking needle sizes in a different arrangement). It seems like it would be a useful tool in theory, but the one that I had received was bent, so I think that the additional holes have weakened the metal too much and made it less durable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A fine device, but metal has its drawbacks here This does what it says -- an easy way to check gauge, and will help identify the size of unknown needles (it has a reasonable, but not comprehensive, range of sizes). It is metal -- which is nice in some ways, but bad in at least two ways -- it will bend & crimp if it, say, accidentally gets stepped on or otherwise abused, and it can scratch your needles as you check their sizes if you're not careful. I prefer my old plastic one that came with a Susan Bates learn to knit kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy tool For those who want to limit the number of knitting gadgets, this doubles as a needlesizer & gauge ruler. Made of metal, there is concern for using the needlesizer with softer needles, such as bamboo & wood. As long as it's not exposed to anything it can scratch in your bag, it's a very good gadget. Handy when checking the gauge since there is a little window to check the number of stitches.
